Ask a car salesman anything...anything at all.
Discussion
Finance is regulated and Treatiing customers fairly is now law.
The FCA have strict regulations on this.
There is no regulation on how much you can sell a car for or how much profit you can make, just as there is no regulation if you sell a car and make a loss.
Why would there be?
It's not hard to understand really, although some find it hard.

I’m not even a parts manager.
It’s telling about they motor industry that if you’re selling parts and accessories you must be something akin to Halfords. Not something upmarket and classy because apparently it doesn’t exist in the motor trade
Until you tell us any different and your intelligence improves, we shall carry on assuming its Halfords you work at as a Saturday bulb and wiper blade fitter. It’s telling about they motor industry that if you’re selling parts and accessories you must be something akin to Halfords. Ah okay so the public perception of car main dealers is positive then?
Mostly, yes.But there will always be some people who have the 1980s stereotype stuck in their heads, someone like you perhaps.
I tend to find that the people who have this attitude about us, aggressive, snooty, snide remarks, and sometimes just downright rude, are the ones that are given a price, usually screen price and are told that's it.
These types are not worth dealing with, and any salesperson on here will know exactly the sort of person we are talking about.
Unfortunately, even when they do agree to buy, you can guarantee that post sale, they will suddenly become the biggest pain the the ass ever, ranting, demanding, being obnoxious and just plain difficult over any little fault ot niggle they can find.
I have had several of these types over the yrs and the computer screen is marked with a big fat "do not sell this person a car' marker.
As salespeople, the best deals go to those, who are sensible, treat us fairly, are not rude or stereotypical, and are as nice to us as we are to them.
I have even given a discount to some people, who have not even asked for it, or filled the tank up, as a little surprise for them come handover time, as they were an absolute pleasure and delight to deal with.
As a public facing individual, I carry this mantra over to industries that I have to buy from, and guess what?
I get offered little incentives, or a little discount here and there, despite not asking for one.
