Looked at that one earlier. Once bitten twice shy with ebay I'm afraid. The plate looks familiar, a lad I knew had one of these years ago, could be the same oneShame you didn't shine to it, but what a cracking shed.
My first car was a 5dr in the exact same colour, China blue. Cracking little w-reg 1.6 meridian hand me down from dad, who prefered it to the focus.
I binned it on a tight muddy bend and wrote it off,.only to replace it with and even more excellent 1.8 meridian, proper low miler and a real poor mans gti6' I my eyes.
Sadly I binned that too into a telegraph pole, I was gutted as it was already on track to appreciate and I genuinely planned to hold on to it long term.
Youth eh! I would have another in a heartbeat.

When the 306 Gti-6, 106gti and the 406 Coupes hadn't been out long I somehow got invited onto a Peugeot PR/Drive the Sporty Stuff day held at Weston Park near Shifnal. They'd hired a lot of the park out, had the range of performance stuff, 106gti, 306Xsi, 306 Gti-6, 406 Coupé V6 etc all present. You had to sign on with your driving license but you could then go and try a car unaccompanied on their test familiarisation route. This consisted of a few of the single track surfaced estate roads ( as used on a few stages of the RAC Rally ) which then took you out onto the public roads on a small 'lap' of some of the lanes surrounding the park before heading back into the Park.
As often with these type of things there was a big queue for most of the sportiest stuff but I managed to get a 306Xsi in that lovely blue ( as per the mag advert with the guy driving down to the coast near the Med ). All went well, had the Peugeot "feel" I was used to with my 309GTi I owned at the time, but I did notice some of the heavily cambered single-track roads were quite slippy on some of the faster kinks despite the absence of visible mud or damp.
A couple of test drives later I was just pipped to the keys of one of the 306 GTI-6s they had at the signing on desk by another guy. No matter, he'd just handed in the keys to a 106Gti so I was quite happy to try that. By this time people were getting more and more 'confident' in their test-driving abilities. We were both waved out the car park area, me a 100 yards or so behind 306gti-6 man, gearboxes and engines were being 'exercised'..., especially once out of sight of the signing on desk.
Anyway, 306 man must have been hard on it in 3rd as he approached one of the faster single track tarmac bends, not muddy-slimed November RAC rally pace but maybe not too far off. I guess he must have lifted, never saw brake lights, and was instantly into a big spin, grass, mud, straw etc arcing into a trail of progress as he speared off at a tangent from the road. Luckily there was nothing to hit or tip him over on the grass - I stopped and asked him if he was ok but I still think he was trying to figure out what had happened!
I did notice when I later got my go in one of the 306 Gtis that it was a lot livelier at the back than the other stuff, even the 106. Very 'adjustable' chassis but I guess they caught out a lot of people over the years.

My OCD would have probably drained another £1500 to £2000 to get it back in tip top condition, I can't justify that on a 3rd car so disappointingly I left it there.
I'm in the same boat with DC2s, so know how you feel (and their values have shot up in the last couple of years).Getting these cars up to scratch will easily coat a few grand. I sold my DC2 a few years ago and figured I would probably need to chuck over £6k at it if I wanted it back on form. Buying a 20 year old car and expecting it to drive properly will leave you disappointed.
At the moment, I am running a very clean looking E36 328 with 70k miles. But even that will have around £5k spent on it to get it to where I want it to be.

Its annoying that Peugeot went through such a rubbish point in the 2000's, as they've made some cracking cars.
I've owned:
306 Rallye X 2
306 Gti 6 X 2
306 Hdi X 2
306 Xs
106 Xsi
106 Gti
206 Gti 180
406 Coupe V6
They've all been great, they really knew how to make a hatch handle well. Even the 406 isn't a complete pudding in the corners.

I enjoyed mine and it would happily oversteer through corners.I've owned:

All of those are brilliant cars, and it just makes it even more sad that they've produced nothing but total st for nearly twenty years now.I've owned:

Could not agree more. After my 306 I bought a 107 and a 3008. The 107 isn't too bad. Drives like a go kart and is reliable.I've owned:

The 3008? Christ it's a dog. Reliability is poor. Build quality is poor. The only thing nice about it is the engine which does pull well. But the electrics and the power steering pump are fragile. So it ends up being a money pit.

Bloke goes to buy SOTW but wants a minter........
Better than that... he wants an "investment".10 years ago you could pick up a 205gti for this type of money and in pretty reasonable condition, look at the values of those now.
Fortunately I've owned enough cars and made a plenty of mistakes to know when it feels right to buy. This wasn't for me but there's no reason you can't pick up a tidy one for less than £2k, it's just finding one!!

I had one in yellow / gold "back in the day". Had the rear end go light on me a few times at reasonable speeds / corners which the reviewers thought was ace, just scared the crap out of me though!
TX.
Mine used to like to do this on the slip roads near Scotswood Bridge in Newcastle. Scary the first time it happened, was on my guard thereafter and took it easier... TX.
I used to love giving it a bit of welly out of roundabouts and putting the back end out, as well.
God I want one of these again.
I have a very soft spot for these. I used to be a Saturday boy at a Pug dealership in the late ninety's. These were the cream of the crop back then [apart from the very rare 406 V6 coupe]. The mechanics would take me along on test drives sometimes. They were so much fun. 167 BHP seemed like so much back then.
