Quite right, i didn't like it all when it was first released but when i first saw one in person it does have the WOW factor that hot hatches haven't had since the Mk 2 FRS, VAG cars are so capable but so boring, Honda are back on top and about time.
Agreed, really really liked it when I looked one over a couple of weeks ago, and have now been reassured by my local dealer that he'll give me a test drive whenever ... so I'll be getting one (subject to TD) as soon as finances allow/Interesting review!
As a very happy current RS owner I was wondering how the FPM 375 tune worked - good to read!
My own perspectives on the RS:
Seat position not a problem with the std seats, quite comfortable
Interior - it's bog-standard Focus, which is actually not that bad and I don't see what the fuss is about!
Ride quality - quite "jiggly" at low speed, gets better at speed. Perfectly fine for long journeys, more suppleness would be nice.
Performance - amazing grip, handling and drive out of corners, 4WD system can get upset with road camber under acceleration. Acceleration can feel "flat" because it's so linear (until you look at the speed and say **** heck!!). Launch Control is truly epic.
I think Honda has done an amazing job with the Type R and it would have been a definite contender but the styling (for me) is completely over the top and I would not consider buying under any circumstances .....pity!

Civic for me all day long.
Because I have a pair of testicles, not t!ts.
Therefore how a car drives comes before how it looks.
But I don't like driving round looking like a tit.Because I have a pair of testicles, not t!ts.

I don't want to drive around looking like someone who needs attention because they never got it from their parents. Wings, fins and big spoilers are totally unnecessary bling for a road car. Three-quarters of such cars probably never see any track time where their aerodynamics might be an advantage.

100% Honda. All hail the king of hot hatches.
Was waiting for you to show up!PS. PH also preferred the last (sales failure) Civic Type R to the FRS. Probably because the reviewer had one from Honda...
I've driven neither, so can't comment, but the PistonHeads reviewer has, back to back.
Ah some pics of the CTR in dark grey. Looks mostly acceptable.
In traffic, I would then NOT drive like a t(w)*t, rather very gentleman like, then looks won't matter. When nobody is looking on, it would be a great drive I read here.
I did hear that there is virtually no play in the rear, very unlike the MRS...
Either way, there is no lack of (upcoming) options for the driver enthusiast on a practical budget... Would actually be hard to choose. Good that I need an estate, only one best there, and even better with a few small mods. Seems that the new ones to market will be great from the get go though...

Yep, I bought a Championship White one
I could not give a monkeys if people call it ugly, its absolutely epic to drive and a massive Deli Ali finger up to the rest of the boring VAG hatches and same old, same old stuff out there. Its a laugh, makes every drive an event, makes other people smile or comment good or bad - isn't that what a hot hatch is about?
I have actually had far more people being positive about it than not in the flesh, (accept for the lad in Halfords of all places who said the owner must have a small you know what) so before you coat it off, see one in the flesh or bu66er me, actually drive one...

I don't think anyone would think you are a tit though, most people who know what they are will probably enjoy seeing it over most of the other bland crap on the road, other road users not into cars won't bat an eyelid and you'd be having too much fun to care anyway.
