Any sensor issues causing the dash to light up ?
CAM sensor gave zero indications!

Air Matic has 2 stages, warning followed by threat of death by disco lights !

Otherwise it’s been a very easy car to live with, I’ve got the L version and have got used to the ridiculous length easily.

I keep looking at this. A lot.

What's the likelihood of it staying in budget?
Who isn't? wink

What a fantastic looking thing, genuine sports are rare, very much so, dark headliner and everything. And dare I say it, but the style 32's suit the e38 better than any other wheels, even the M-parallels

I'd be all over that if not for the slight issue that it's an RHD car... and resides in the U.K..
Finished at £3250

There was mention of a barge meet.

When/where is it planned for ?
You'll find the proper post with all details within the last 10 pages (at a guess), but RAF Cosford (museum), 1000 onwards, a week today.

All welcome, regardless of vehicle. That last bit is really important - it isn't just about barges. Yes there will be plenty there I hope, but really it's about all cars and meeting fellow nice threadists.

Usual form is an RV in the car park, some aimless tyre-kicking and general admiration of cars that look better than your own, then a coffee in the cafe, more car chat and then plenty of time to look at the museum halls. We can have lunch in the cafe and there's plenty to see, even if the weather is bad.

The museum is free, and very good, but there apears to be a car parking fee of £3 or 4.

Nice Oxford 740i

Shame the advert tells you bugger all. Would be nice to know more on history, but nice low miles and looks good enough in the pics

Thanks for all the replies.

General consensus across the Internet is that the A8 can suffer from expensive gearbox issues. May be better if oil has been changed in the past but I would guess an Audi FSH would mean it hasn’t. Shame as they are good cars.
I imagine the same could be said for all ZF boxes though I don't know how many of the 7,000,000+ made fall into the 'sealed for life' category as they were widely used by many car manufacturers.

When I bought my 2003 A8 it had 64,000 on the clock and as a precautionary measure I changed the fluid; I've no transmission problems to report.

Oxford Green II is one of the greatest BMW colours.
I've an E46 Touring in this colour and the bodywork is a mess (rust).
I really don't want to spend anything on making it look better as it cost me, and is worth, so little. But the petrol head inside me cries a little bit every time I see a nice BMW in this colour and wonder what could be!

Location of photos is off putting. And i think it's a part time trader; front carpets look wet vac'd rather than just hoovered.

I think it looks great - but what is going on with 35% of the front brake disc; the rest is shiny, this part heavily corroded. How can that even happen?

That's not 'heavy corrosion', it's the orange film of oxidisation you sometimes get if you wet a warm brake disc, for example when washing. Would wipe off with your fingers or the first time you touch the brakes on the move.

I'm not convinced - washing gives rusty water spot marks, this looks Titanic levels of rust!

Impossible to be definitive without going to see it but I think there s a good chance that the disc rust is completely superficial.

I'd say so too - the colour is still reasonably light orange, rather than the darker brown of serious corrosion.

Excellent.

You know the drill when you hit the the forecourt.
Picked car up and was following various diversions on the A14 and ended up on vapours. Luckily found some unattended, poorly lit forecourt but no good for photos. Have been busy with the gummi pflege and leather cleaner today though and hope my gravel is a suitable alternative backdrop:

I have been very impressed with it so far. Everything seems to be working okay. It came with 4 nearly new Continental tyres and some pretty snazzy 18" OZ alloys that I am just cleaning up and are probably worth about half what I paid for the car!

Hmm don’t know what to make of this 740i.

MOT mileage history looks ok but not MOTd since July 2015. It then appears this guy bought it around September 2015 and never driven it, just garaged it.

No service history with it

Bodywork looks pristine though, wonder if it has had paint.
