Whilst we are on the subject of R129 plastic window replacement, does anyone have any recommendations on who to do this in the South East please ? Mine has a few small splits starting to appear.
Cayman Autos in Dorking
d:Class
K Baggs Trimming in Bournemouth
Autotrimmer.co.uk around Milton Keynes

Most trimmers are up to the job but if you really want to be sure you're getting good work I gather those guys are the best.

Bad luck there. I had mine replaced last year, Non Merc window plastic, thinner and feels more pliable, so I assume it will be less likely to crack at lower temps, that is probably wishful thinking on my part.

I have already chickened out and put the hard top on, I like the extra head room you get with the hard top.

Had mine done by Trimmania in Wokingham. Did a decent job.

Thanks both, lots of options there. Cayman autos are nearest and I've heard good things about them.

Well in! Cracking colour, glad it's as good as it looked. Bit of a steal, especially with the bonus wheels - anything needing done?
Struggling to find anything, tbh. I thought the CD player might be on the blink but I had just put the CDs in upside down! The vanity mirror in the sun visor has a light that comes on when you flip the cover down but that did not appear to work on driver's side. I took the little fuse-like bulb out to check it and now back in it all works again - must have just been a loose connection. I then 'wasted' about an hour sitting in the car listening to some CDs as the audio system is surprisingly good - it might even be better than the Harman Kandon system I have in my Daimler.

Might be in thread ish territory....

Auction I'm afraid, but no reserve.

Reg number for anyone interested in KN02 DKF, MOT history suggests it did just 212 miles between 21/04/2016 and 04/04/2017.

A very good friend of mine came down to visit us from near Dunfermline for a night yesterday in the 535d Touring (E61) that he's just bought for a little bit over thread budget. Truly low condition and well-maintained blah blah...but...

Mein Gott! eekeek

I've never owned a diesel car myself of any description so I didn't expect it could do that!

I think know what barge I'm buying next if I decide to sell either the E38 or my wife's E39.

High bork potential too so perfect thread fodder.

I've been away from Barge thinking for a while so I'd forgotten that constant in my equation!

I've been very impressed with the straight-6 in my W211, I'm spoilt now as I've experienced a nearly-smooth diesel, that's the only one that'll do now.

The new-gen of 300hp diesels are quite something.

Any other barging/non-barging news Derin?

Not really TBH, the E38 has been away for what seems an age having what I thought should have been really minor things attended to so it's been my Z4 3.0Si that's had to shoulder the burden of daily driving for the last few months.

Just been too busy with other 'stuff' for a full year now what with moves etc.

(the Z4M and the Alpina Roadster S have only covered about 4-5 miles each since I got them!)

Consider yourself indulged! I don't know how you could have parted with any of those, although the E34 is the best to my eye. That said, you really can't beat an E38 in Biarritz Blue on those radial spoke wheels, especially with the de-chrome. I wish I'd spotted the 750i that was listed earlier in the thread. I'd chop my w210 for that in the blink of an eye.
Yes, all hard to let go for different reasons. Suspect I will regret the E34 M5 the most (already do) but the M3 saloon is still to have its day I think. Ultra rare car especially in Dakar.

If I’d always had enough money to fund houses, family etc and keep all the nice cars I’d had then I’d be a happy man. We all know the reality is never so easy.

Don’t mention my ur-quattro or Mk2 Golf GTi either...

Jag? Perhaps.

Bimmer? Please no.

Merc? Definitly not.

Benz? Just maybe.

But "Lex"???????? Unforgivable!

wink
Pity that these two escaped mention.

Firstly, surely Jag and Merc are always acceptable? Possibly verging on Council but always acceptable in a 'smoker' sort of way as per thread title. 'Bimmer' or 'beemer' just makes the user sound like a bell, as per 'weapon', 'track slag', 'pulled the trigger' etc etc.

Secondly, and most importantly that Lex(!) is verging on magnificent, non? Lovely colours, gold badges for the win, and an interior that, whilst ticking various different shades and colours, avoids hearing aid cream. I haven't done any due diligence - natch, why change the habits of a lifetime - but that looks a cracking buy to me.

A friend of mine has a 2008 e60 saloon 535d, slightly breathed upon, nothing much, injectors, tune and DPF-delete and I reckon it would leave my e39 M5 in a cloud of black smoke at any speed quite easily, it's bloody fast, not quick, it's properly fast, seen 180 mph on the speedo and gps multipe times. Even sounds rather nice in a fast and the furious, turbo whistly kind of way. Fully specced aswell, M-sport, nappa comforts, hud, individual killer stereo etc. If you drive it like you stole it it'll still return 29 mpg. Still don't want one,

It does look rather smart doesn't it. The DHP's make the car: no wheel sits as nicely on the Mk3/4 LS.

Has an LS400 ever graced a barge meet?

I know there are countless e-bay threads, and I'm not going to add to them, but some of the messages car ads attract defy belief. Today's 'special' was the 2-worder '5k cash' for a car advertised at 8.5. I responded, politely, saying that it wasn't very appealing but thanking him anyway and got a 'no probs' reply.

2 messages. 4 words. Presumably they're lazily fishing in the pool of perceived desperation, but it seems rather self-defeating to me.

I've missed one barge meet/Losers Conference, but I haven't seen one. I would like to have a good look and play with one. Any chance an owner can come along next weekend?

God, it has just struck me that this weekend is the barge grouping and the weekend I've got friends from New York coming to stay. And it's the best one so far for me to get to.

Sorry, I know I said I would, but I won't make it. Well, unless you want to meet some Americans who have absolutely no interest in cars and will probably have a hangover

Both Lexus / Lexi are lovely.

The silver one looks box-fresh and has to be a serious contender for best LS400 posted?
