I do find that silver makes this series XJ look like a bit X-type though!
I do not want another silver car, that much I know. My piggy bank can't stretch to that one, just as well.

Guessing this'll end up near thread max but it's luvverley. Dark green metallic CLS with olive (??) leather, distronic, parktronic, rear blind, heated/cooled/massage seats, a proper engine... Somebody went wild with the spec when they were ordering it. Warning : advert is terrible. But it's done sensible miles and money's been spent. Never seen one this colour before - in the flesh and nicely polished I'd imagine it looks stunning.

Bizarre photos. Pile of mud, dirty carpet, dash in the dark.
This is hugely reassuring though: "all maintnance has been done by my known car mechanic ".
You wouldn’t want any old stranger working on a car like that tongue out
Diamond in the rough, I’m sure of it. Maybe.

Morning, some bargist advice please:

Recently moved from Scotland down to Surrey, and an 80 mile daily M25 round trip from Guildford to Crawley is starting to become a bit of a pain in my Mx5, so I'm needing something bigger, automatic and dare I say it, potentially diesel banghead

Ideally I'd like to spend around 2 grand. Where would your money go for a 20k per year muncher?

I really like this - over budget at 6k but looks well cared for - current owner has had it 8 years and the history looks perfect. On auction but no reserve.
Jaguar Super V8 .
They look so much cooler than the XJRs. A 400 brake Jaag with Shaag - what's not to like?

I have tried to like that but it doesn't look right I that green somehow, might be as not used to green CLS, but it sort of jars, at least it is a change from silver I guess.

There is a gorgeous red one in readers rides.

Interesting idea. I'm basically torn between getting another LS400 in the knowledge I'll spend more on fuel than a similar diesel equivalent but will hopefully be able to offset that with their bullet proofness and lack of borkage.

I've been in touch with this guy in Kent who repairs R230 pumps but who is having a gander at SL2's R129 pump.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-R230-SL-PSE-Ce...

I don't think he does too much with the electronic side of things, so if it has suffered water damage than you're SOL but impeller failure or a replacement motor for burnt-out brushes is up his street. Diagnosis is free, just pay for the return postage...
Already onto him!

Good day for collection. However, it's on winter tyres! With a spare set of 18" Avoir wheels running summer rubber...

School run this morning:

Having used one I'd only consider a straight-6 or V12 diesel now, the smoothness is incredible compared to a rattly 4/5/V6.

You might pick up a W210 320CDI for that, maybe even a scruffier 211.

I’ve owned both. Basically, it depends on the wheelbase and what suspension was spec’d on the Super V8. On the XJR, you can only have sports suspension, on the Super V8 you can have sports or comfort. You can put the VIN into Ford ETIS to check.

I had a SWB SV8 with sports suspension, drove exactly the same as my XJR. A LWB SV8 with comfort suspension would be rather more boat like than an XJR.

On which note, the r230 SL500 arrives tomorrow. I’m already £444 down for a year’s insurance.
Bloody hell, that's steep. Just about the only thing worth getting old for is cheaper insurance; I don't think I pay more than that for 3 cars in total.
Indeed, my similar R230 SL cost me just under £200 and that was the 55 AMG version. The shed Boxster I have recently acquired also costs just under £200.

The S600TT on the other hand costs loads which suggests more people crash S-classes.

r129sl, I did quite a lot of DIY work on my R230, shout if you want to mull anything over

Not just crack-pipe pricing, but a woeful ad as well.

And who thinks tinted windows works on a 124? Dreadful.
