Cosford is close for me, if the Bentley isn't sold by then (up at thread budget at the mo) I'll come in that, otherwise I'll bring the Legacy.

Would be nice to come to Cosford, especially as I now have a shiny barge that I can park amongst the prized and polished examples and not be too embarrassing.

ETA- it's a gold over beige Lexus with gold badges- of course it will be embarrassing.

If it helps anyone at all, I'm in High Wycombe (ish) and have a spare room.
Might make the travel a bit easier if you can break it up over a couple of days.

As a (proper) Northerner, I can appreciate how it feels to have everything happening so far away.
The only real benefit to being stranded down south for a while is that it's so much busier than up North.
Everything is within an hour and a half or 2.

Where I'm from, I'm only just getting to Manchester in 2 hours!

Cosford is a great place to wander around. It's a very nice set-up, and a huge range of interesting stuff to gawk at.

As mentioned, the V-Bombers are stunning things. Scarybutbeautifulbutscarybutbeautiful even now, just sitting still. Not so much the Victor - that's not at all beautiful but compensates by being extra double scary. Probably understandably piqued at drawing the very short straw on the names, so you can't blame it for being a bit chippy.

There may be some brummies there, not a problem if you're prepared.

Depending on the date I think I could make that, would love to see the V-bombers as well.

That's pretty much what mine looks like. I'll try and bring it up to Cosford because it doesn't get out much and a bit of a trip would do it good. It's a fair trek from us though and I'm short on brownie points atm, so will keep an eye on plans and try to make it.

Chaps - threadists meet, aka Losers Conference at RAF Cosford, close to Telford. Is a Sat or Sun preferable? It looks like it'll be 25 or 26 Nov.

Folk that have expressed interest to some qualified degree or other include: Tobinen, The Lord John, bob-lad, Stegel, r129sl, StrokesUK, Mark-c, Krikkit, olly755 and idiotgap.

As always, the more the merrier. Barges absolutely not required, merely a vague interest in cars, V Bombers, a mild tyre-kicking fetish, a prediliction for tourist attraction cafe lunches, and not too much self-respect to meet strange men off the internet.

And to all the complaining northerners, this is northern! In fairness, previous gigs were in the Lake District and York, so the Midlands sort of seems, well, middle-ish. A great chance to blow the cobwebs off the jalopy and give it a late autumn run. Who's up for it?

For those interested, I didn’t like the 1.6 petrol S40. Too slow, too tatty and too dear. Although my own car has now taken the huff with me for looking at the other, and is shouting at me that I really must service it very soon indeed.

Selfishly speaking, Sunday best for me as I work nights until 0700 Sat - but if Saturday is better for a higher % of those attending I won't protest smile

Pre-Sacco W124 300E in smoke silver and teddy bear. Reasonable-sounding estimate of 1400-1800.

I might be able to make a Sunday (I work Saturday mornings).
Bit of a trek for me but looks like the destination would be worth it. And maybe some of you can try and show me what you see in all these old Mercs... wink

If we can nudge that more to the 26th we'll be able to make it. The 25th less so.

And by we I mean 12 cylinders, me the Mrs. So those that haven't managed a meet before you don't need to leave the Mrs at home, or worse - shopping. We've had wives, girlfriends and children of all ages attend previous meets.

I am a lurker in this thread and would love a barge. Just not pratical at the minute. I fancy a 5/6/7 series.

I will try and nip over to Cosford though if that is ok. The old midlands breakfasts clubs were good there. Any excuse to look at a Vulcan as well!

Not a chance, and nothing to do with potential Brummie encounters - strange men off the internet and old cars hold no attraction!

You sir, are on the list! Anyone that hankers for a big BMW and is named after a Cypriot beer deserves thread-ledge status.

More generally, it's looking like a Sunday is generally better, and as that suits me personally, that's what we're veering towards, in an ageing BMW e39 'shimmy' sort of way. Sun 26th Nov, RAF Cosford Museum.
