Funny how they are both "together" as it were. Like the spirit of barge is keeping each other company.

This deserves more love, but barges and footballistes seem largely on opposite sides of the Venn diagram.
Clowns to the left of me. Jokers to the right. Here i am, stuck in the middle.

It's because at one stage the car park people physically picked them up and put them there together at the far end of the car park. They weren't always together like that.

About a year or so ago they built all these roofs with solar panels on them over the whole car park. We came back to find our E39 Touring had been moved a good 50m from where we had left it.

(I've just remembered that there used to be a W123 Estate in China Blue there for many years as well. Not there any more but that really had decayed into a terrible state.)

One of the things I love about the French is the way they don't give a fk. They just get on and do stuff; sod the punter!

That sounds like a reason to hate the French.

There are a few, but I don't think that's one of them.

Agreed. They are equally excellent at not getting on and doing stuff whenever it suits them.

Odd that the dashboard has Parktronic displays for the front yet the front bumper doesn't have any parking sensors. The rear bumper does have parking sensors but the display for that is built into the rear dome light (not seen in the pics). AFAIK, Parktronic could not be ordered just for rear, it was front and rear only. Perhaps its had a replacement bumper at some point?
Quite likely. It's cat 'C' and I think it should have front fogs too.

I am hoping to go and look at the local X-reg W203 320 Merc c-class I posted a few days ago, probably tomorrow, but where do I need to check for rust other than the arches?

Do they rust from the inside out?

I have read a few online buying guides, so hopefully I'll be forewarned....

I really don't know how France works. Everything is really expensive (even accounting for the pound's slide over the last 18months). Nobody seems to do much work. The infrastructure is startlingly good and gets built quickly. It is most odd. Is it a bit like Greece? And what is it with the women?

What baffles me is that I'm always reading how their productivity is so much higher than ours. But drive through a British town at 11am on a weekday and there's a lot going on. Many, many people are busy at work (and leisure), but either way, they're making or spending money.

Do the same in a French town and there's bugger-all happening. Fast asleep. The whole countryside, villages and to a large degree, towns, is like 28 Days Later.

How do they do it? I suspect the answer might be tunnels, but I'm not going to say that in case I look stupid.

At that price I suspect the usual caveats of buying a mini-barge and not much else... If it's not visibly rusting yet then great result.

Having worked for a French company for the past 10 years, my contributions are;
they smoke a lot
they enjoy a break
lunch is a 1-2 hour affair (not literally) dependent upon the number of attendees
they are late to almost everything
they like to complain
they are quite fun(ny) in their rather emotive reactions
in fairness they do, generally, work until rather late and start early
weekends are not for work

This is so true. Plus they have an amazing health care system and retire early.

My theory is that they don’t piss away their disposable income on a blandsville new car every 3 years as we do in the U.K.

Just like the enlightened folk on this thread n’est ce pas?
