Concours-quality SD1 2600E with 15800 warranted miles and an estimate of 3-4k, maybe too nice to be pressed into service so perhaps outside the spirit of thread?

On the subject of Loser conferences, the SD1 club were lurking in the car park at the last meeting.

ETA Holy Crap. Look at that gear lever - it almost distracted me from the fact it only has half an engine smile

I am a lurker in this thread and would love a barge. Just not pratical at the minute. I fancy a 5/6/7 series.

I will try and nip over to Cosford though if that is ok. The old midlands breakfasts clubs were good there. Any excuse to look at a Vulcan as well!
You sir, are on the list! Anyone that hankers for a big BMW and is named after a Cypriot beer deserves thread-ledge status.

More generally, it's looking like a Sunday is generally better, and as that suits me personally, that's what we're veering towards, in an ageing BMW e39 'shimmy' sort of way. Sun 26th Nov, RAF Cosford Museum.
Haha thank you! Not sure if i have wuoted this right as i am on my phone

SWVA have popped a load of low estimates into their catalogue for Friday - time of year & weakening economic sentiment or cynical bait-and-switch tactic?

I would buy this W123 280TE tonight sight unseen at £2500-3000 just on the strength of the Becker Europa and the MB Owner's Club sticker. Why is the MB logo on the boot upside-down?

https://www.swva.co.uk/classic-car/mercedes-280-te...

and much the same applies to this clean 32000-mile 1988 XJS V12 at £4900-5750

Estimates set low to gain interest.
They done the same with the previous auction much to my annoyance.

I'd agree. Perfectly fair of course, as they have to generate interest and bids, but those cars are worth much more than that.

It would be a pretty good garage at 15k-18k combined, so 9k the pair would be larceny.

Obviously I'd also have a field full of rotting R129s out the back.

Fancy taking one to the Losers Conference?

The last Loser Conference sparked me off towards fleet expansion (or rather, duplication rolleyes) so I dread to think what would happen next time around.

If I go for that W123 though...

Chaps - threadists meet, aka Losers Conference at RAF Cosford, close to Telford. Is a Sat or Sun preferable? It looks like it'll be 25 or 26 Nov.

Folk that have expressed interest to some qualified degree or other include: Tobinen, The Lord John, bob-lad, Stegel, r129sl, StrokesUK, Mark-c, Krikkit, olly755 and idiotgap.
If we can nudge that more to the 26th we'll be able to make it. The 25th less so.

And by we I mean 12 cylinders, me the Mrs. So those that haven't managed a meet before you don't need to leave the Mrs at home, or worse - shopping. We've had wives, girlfriends and children of all ages attend previous meets.]
Saturday fine by me, and I've just ran it by the bread knife who's (surprisingly) up for it along with plane mad (although sadly not car mad) 5 year old in tow.

Sunday possible if an early start- what is the usual ETA for meeting up?

A Sunday Losers Conference to discuss rust and other woes whilst standing in awe of the V-Bombers sounds a good way to waste/spend a day. I'll be pouring V-Power through a V12 from Surrey if anyone else is heading from this area.

I can do Saturday or Sunday but am feeling a bit sheepish at the prospect of people with 12 cylinders turning up! I do have a Mrs-C to bring but fairly sure the whole “meeting strange blokes off the internet near some big old planes” thing isn’t floating her boat right now jester

Just take the consumption piss out of the V12 gits - we'll all be bankrupt soon enough.

Bizarrely perhaps, for a lady person, my O/H likes big old planes and cars so is happy to make a return trip to Cosford to keep Mrs-C company. Count us in for either the 25th or 26th.

Cosford sounds good. A motley crew of distinguished men wink , standing around old cars, before walking around old planes, seems decent way to spend a Sunday.

I'd love to visit Cosford as I love a good barge, am interested in old bombers and you all seem like splendid chaps.

However, I've used all November's credit up with a trip away with friends and I couldn't bring myself to attend a barge meet in what I'm currently driving!

Distinguished? rofl

I've attended one of these gatherings in the past. 'Suspicious' is the word I'd use.

I've not been to a barge meet up, but I've met a few of the people who frequent this thread, either at a karting event or from consuming copious amounts of ale in boozers around London.

Don't worry about what you turn up in. It's a personal attitude that counts.

A spotty 16 year old on a 50cc scooter would be perfectly welcome. (As long as he has the personality of a 55 year old grumpy bd, and gets mercilessly bullied at school for wearing corduroy trousers and smoking a pipe whilst thumbing through 6 year old copies of Car and Classic.)
