What would you do with it? People would always assume you were on your way to a wedding or funeral?!

Love the interior, less keen on the blue smoke and chrome rust covers
It's MOT isn't too bad. if the price stays low, there must be someone who can do a reasonable engine rebuild for a few grand and a recon steering box, could be a pretty cheap way into a 560 with refreshed engine.

Reason(s) for failure

Offside Front Front position lamp(s) not working (1.1.A.3b)
Nearside Stop lamp not working (1.2.1b)
Nearside Registration plate lamp not working (1.1.C.1d)
Steering box has a significant oil leak (2.2.D.2e)
Exhaust emits dense blue smoke at idle (7.3.A.2b)

Advisory notice item(s)

Offside Obligatory mirror damaged, but not seriously affecting the rear view (8.1.2a)

You're absolutely right: all is forgiven (even those wheels). Bloody love oxblood leather!
One of my friends rather wealthy dad ran 2 brand new 560 sec's in the late 80's early 90's, one for him and one for the missus and a year later his leadfooted son and company. Both in that gorgeous navy blue metallic and oxblood leather.

My "The Man" went to see that a fair few weeks ago. If anyone's seriously interested I can ask him what was wrong with it and why he passed, and/or go look over it with someone (it's not far from me).
I can't believe that driver's seat has seen only 54,000 miles.
Nice colour though

£3.5k to fully sort the paint, I just have no idea about the rest. Very interesting at that price though...
Not been serviced in 18 years? Even with the low miles that can't be good.

An X350 XJR in thread budget. Needs a bit of bodywork but doesnt look too bad, and under 100k.

They all need bodywork to a greater or lesser degree at that age - I’ve never seen one without some corrosion. That one does look a bit worse than some others though. £400 sounds extremely optimistic to fix it however

Thanks for the comments on the green BMW 740i.

I also love the style 32s on these.

Been lurking a while so thought would post some photos to put something back in.

Love browsing through these posts to see what is about and what people are buying. Some lovely cars on here.

Working CLK 430 with nearly a years MOT for £500

V8 for 1/10 of the budget. Doesn’t look too bad bar the roof which can just stay up.

Who wouldn't love a V8 at this money? Pics even look okay.
But I cannot even begin to imagine or describe the horrors that may be hidden here.

Come on. Under a grand, in London, from a 'dealer'. With that description?

Get tae.

I posted at the back end of last week that my new Lexus was being delivered, and then subsequently that the delivery driver had gone AWOL. So, it's back to the tried and tested thread-method and I find myself spending the bank holiday morning on a train to the frozen north to collect it myself.

Time is tight at the moment, hence the appeal of a delivery, but I'm excited about getting acquainted with the car over 250-odd miles, excited about poking around the stock at the dealer, and excited about the imminent petrol station forecourt photo.

I’m looking forward to pics of the LS CdeG.

I owned an 04 myself. Navy with cream, bought new by a Lord! I was the second owner at 154k.

I enjoyed ownership, the only issue was the steering column didn’t move but was stuck at a decent height.

If you enjoy wafting it’s hard to beat especially in the back.

Got no experience of the V8 engine George, but I can tell you the straight 6 diesel (apart from the occasional injector seal leak) is, imho, one of the best oil burners ever put in a car. It's smooth, quiet, and with a bit of restraint will return 50+ mpg, and that's in my W220, which is obviously a bit heavier than an E class. Despite the fact it only knocks out just over 200hp, it also generates 500nm of torque, which makes progress quite rapid when needed.
There are firms around who will remap these to give another 40/50hp and an extra 100nm, if you want some more oomph.
Just what I wanted to hear (I think) smile I've never been a big fan of diesels, but it does seem like it'd suit a relaxing barge quite well, and I kinda feel like I should try at least one at some point. Good to hear they're solid engines! What are the symptoms of the injector seal leak? Bad starting I assume?
