Very, very likely. This car's had M14YBK on it, and there's photos on google images, from a now-dead limo hire company's site, of M4YBK (62, rather than a mere 57) with ribbons next to various Phantoms and the like.
Fifty grand! I can understand why these would be bought new for £250k or whatever they were (as they'd almost certainly be bought by a decent sized company that also provides a chauffeur to cart the execs about), and I can understand why somebody handy with the spanners and with big gonads would punt £10k on one as it would be quite an experience. But inbetween there must be a vast chasm of no interest whatsoever. I suppose a limo hire company might want one but would it really make financial sense for them to do so? It just looks like a weird S-Class so would you get enough custom from it to recoup the massive outlay and running costs? Genuine question as I'm baffled as to why anyone would want a ten year old one of these for £50k.
A very cool car, very quiet, very fast, pure luxury and it is far from 'ghastly'. I used to see a few of these around where I live but in truth I have seen more Chirons (6) in the last 3 weeks than Maybachs since they came out.
There used to be a stunning two-tone 57 black with orange sides parked up near me with D plates with all windows blacked out including the front windscreen, strangely. Funnily next to it was a Bentley continental in the exact same colours as well as a G wagon, again Black with orange sides.
I do prefer the 57/57s model to the 62/62s/Zepplin.
This might be a classic soon if not now because so few are around but like the classic Merc 600 it can be good value to buy one (more or less) but massively expensive to repair and service.
There is a brand new original 57 model for sale right now at about £400.000 and a very rare 2010 Maybach 57 S 6.0 Xenatec Coupe for sale on PH at £550.000. The coupe is stunning and one of only 6 it states. The couple must be the coolest coupe in the world it is so so rare. I am not sure about the prices though.
Looking at the selection on PH I'd have the Maybach 57 Kahn edition as it looks really mean, cool wheels with stunning two-tone paint (wrap?)
The cream white car reviewed would make a fantastic wedding car, Arrive in style pure class at the churchyard.
Stunning machine to fly from city to city and country to country. Few better for that job even today.
love them

Why? Because a large percentage of people who walk past any S Class without noticing will notice a Maybach.
I would notice it and still wonder why, its not very nice to look at, the Maybach badge doesnt really mean much to most folk, I asked my wife and she said it was a car but thats about it, think some may have heard it from various rap records.Sure its fantastic to ride in and would look much better in its original colour but still no idea who would buy one

They will think it is some American car left over from a US airman's jaunt in the UK. Big, bland and devoid of character.£50k buys some really interesting metal, not that blob.

you're all wrong because I'm quite sure that you get a sexy personal assistant that comes with one of these who reclines your seat, attends to your every need and is attentive but not overly so, so it will look better and also be considerably better value
Yes, a real clunge magnet. I'm sure you'd have to be sure to keep your windows up and doors locked when you stop at the traffic lights in this fine mo'ah. Would Sir like to see the comprehensive finance packages available only for up-and-coming captains of industry? Only a few hundred quid a month, which I'm sure would be no such problem for a man of your stature?Edited by Aes87 on Monday 2nd October 09:39

And I'd still want £40k change.Edited by Aes87 on Monday 2nd October 09:39
Must admit I agree with the comments on the price. On the face of it "£50k for a car which just 10 years ago cost £300k or thereabouts" really is stonking value.....but the looks are hideous, and £50k is a lot of money, and will still buy you some very nice metal.
I am not sure, but I bet the running costs are pretty expensive, unless you get it serviced by a Merc independant....but even then I suspect part prices will be eye watering....so you're left with someone spending £50k on a car with the running costs of something much more expensive. I don't think to DRIVE this would be any better than a new shape 2nd hand S class (although I may be wrong), and someone spending £50k is unlikely to be driven around everywhere.....so it does beg the question why bother, doesn't it.
It's safe to say this has dated a lot more than the Rolls Royce Phantom; the interior of the Phantom is timeless, where they didn't go overboard on the tech front....all the better for it in my opinion.

Maybach is probably better known for the diesel engines that they used to make for use in various locomotives in the 1960s, including British Railways' hydraulics.E65Ross said:

1/6th of new price.Don't think a cooking S-class or 7-series would still hold that high a percentage of the new cost...
