Here's the old Top Gear review if you spare 7-8 minutes. It does make sense....Although maybe not at £50k still.
Richard claimed "of course" it's better than a Rolls Royce, but the Phantom didn't arrive until a year or so later.

Anyway, here's a 62 for a bit under £50k.
Only been for sale for 18 months...

I was going to rip the piss out of you for dreaming of such a st car as a kid. I then remembered that I dreamed of a Rover 800 and thought that as penance for being such a wker to want to rip the piss I should just confess that instead.I had occasional use of various Rover 800s for a few years in the late '80s and really rather enjoyed them. Not nimble for sure, but super comfy, good on the motorway, and that 2.7 Honda V6 was a treat, especially on the one we had with a manual transmission.
Would far rather have a mint one of those today than one of these Maybachs. At least I'd be able to park it handily.

Oof, now you are talking, a Nice 2.0T Coupe in Nightfire Red would do, I had a Tahiti blue Saloon, bought mainly as it had some really rather sexy black leather Recaros, kind of a big 200 rather than a BMW competitor but drove well enough.Would far rather have a mint one of those today than one of these Maybachs. At least I'd be able to park it handily.

What kid wouldn't dream of all that st in the back seat? I'd never be seen dead in one now.To me, it looks quite tempting at sub 50k, if I had that kind of cash to spend.
It is a glorified old S-Class, but there for my generation, the Maybach name is something special. Amazing depriciation, how many 1/4 million cars can you buy for so little? However, they could have improved certain areas, such as those ugly rear console vents.

Came across this recent review of the Maybach on Youtube.

Technically it is amazing and I imagine being chauffeured around would be a great VIP experience. However the external design makes it look so naff that it loses all its kudos and prestige factor sort of immediately.
It's a W140 chassis, W220 based design designed to take on the Silver Seraph (which is absolutely spanked). Then the Phantom came out a year later and it became very redundant very quickly. Very weird and bizarre car.

For Khunt, it's remarkably tasteful, restrained and subtle.
Are you referring to Bernhard Kuhnt who has become CEO of BMW of North America effective March 1?I'm sure he would not entertain the thought of being seen in one of these monstrosities now as I reckon he would look like a right Kuhnt......
