I just couldn't spend that kind of money on a 2.0 4 pot.

Hmm. It's a laudable step in the right direction, and no doubt will be snapped up by those who love the marque and the image, but can now do so with better fuel economy and a clean(er) conscience...
Does it have anything at all to do with a cleaner conscience or is it all for company car tax reasons?

Seriously why do people buy Range Rovers?

Appalling reliability and a chav image. I do not see why both are things people would want in a car.
I used to think the same but having graduated to a FFRR by way of trying other 4x4s I think the Rangie is pretty good. Loads of room and very comfy. Does the off road bit with a lift and some decent tyres. The RR Sport on the other hand...a Golf Gti with worse mpg. Looks awful. Bodykits abound which make them look even worse, and they take rims and tyres so thin I shudder to think what the ride quality must be like. Mind, it's about being seen in one I suppose... .
You realise the Sport is just a FFRR in drag now? Same wheels and tyres, suspension and floorplan?
Yes, it's Godawful. Aluminium floorplan is an adapted version BTW. Performs even more like a Gti than the old one. D'you think tyres with a 1" sidewall will flatter the ride quality and off road performance?

?? You say you have a FFRR. The FFRR is the same floorpan as the Sport with identical wheel sizes and identical tyres, with identical engines and identical weights. It's not an 'adapted version' BTW. It's the same pressing as your FFRR.

As you're ignoring the other points I've made we'll just focus on the bits you want to talk about shall we.The current FFRR floorplan is the same but adapted for the current RRS. At least so Autocar states, I'm not sure exactly what the variation is though. Perhaps you could take it up with them?

Love the idea but the modern Range Rover appeals the the white car black wheels and lots of st gold brigade, they seem to have noticed and are styling them accordingly.

I know that a cars appearance is subjective but the whole Chav thng aimed at the L494 current model seems a bit odd?

Yes the previous generation had an image issue but the current one? IMHO the Q7 and Cayenne look considerably more "new money".

The current RRS has a simplicity about it's lines that work. A pity the design language has been used all over the model range (Disco being a particular sore point)

I'm not seeing the max power in its looks (and I used to buy Max Power!).
The cayenne is the best looking suv when compared to any other luxury suv.
Best as in it has restrained road presence as the average owner does not give a toss about wafting a badge around.
The rrs, evoque and the velar were commissioned to appeal to the new money with finance crowd

Just trying to understand what you meant. The L405 and L494 have the same floorplan and suspension architecture. Only differences are spring and damper tunes. The Sport is a really good car......comfortable when you want it to be, and quite fun to drive. You should try one sometime.

Good on JLR sorting itself out & getting on the ball so it's overall emissions are lower so that it can still sell the SVR, school mums will love this model all in all a win.

I have already mentioned I tried one, my conclusion was that it was Godawful. I'm not really the type to want to be seen in one either.

I’m not sure there’s a great deal of difference in looks these days.... but each to their own. Still worth understanding that they’re identical underneath. The low profile tyres you mention are all the same as the FFRR which can also be bought with 19,20,21 and 22 in wheel.

You also say ‘I shudder to think what the ride quality must be like on one’. Surely if you’d driven one you’d know the ride quality is actually very good....

Yes a facelifted cayenne is a looker.
The macan is such a gorgeous but compact SUV and it makes the evoque look dated.
Ugly SUVs are cars like the x5,x6,g wagon and the gle

Guess it might be a bit shorter at the rear?

You’re joking. The Macan is the ugliest blob on the road. I wince each time I see the rear of that vehicle. Q5 far nicer on the eye.

I have driven a new RR , it wasn't too bad, though I would put smaller rims and taller AT tyres on it.

What's your point?
Any phrase beginning with "I shudder to think..." generally implies thinking, rather than doing. wink I've driven the old version, which was awful. Considering the spring and damper settings are designed for a more 'sporty' feel on the present version and reports confirm the ride is more harsh I'll abide by my original comments.
