Why did you post it in the first place?

Why not - assuming its the truth and not libellous, wouldn't you want to know if somewhere is shocking - like that. Butthurt uncle or no, if it's true it's true, what's the issue.

Because thinks it's a little private club not a public forum.

Many people aren't too bright.

Best I've had - taking my VW Lupo for an MOT

Service advisor - the car has passed sir, however we would recommend you look at getting your air conditioning serviced soon

Me - that would be a valid point, IF the car had air conditioning

Cue red face from service advisor biggrin
I had something similar in a Ford dealer once when taking my car for service, when I queried why they had quoted for it I got all the waffle about how vital air con services are, I then pointed out it doesn't have air con, to be told well we weren't sure. Lol

To be fair to service advisors, they don't have time to sit and go through the build spec for every car that's booked in, they're just pressured from the top to sell every "add on" or service plan they can.

This is the worrying thing, they should know! We've heard of cambelt changes recommended for cam chan cars, brake pad changes for cars that had brakes changed a few hundred miles ago by the same dealer. How the hell are we supposed to know if that oil leak or wiper blade really does need attending to.

If you think that's bad try working in the sales dept, service see them as a cash cow, particularly @ month end when they're a hr's short of target.

Hounding him?

All he has to do is stop clicking on this thread!

It either is, or isn't, rocket science.

Just to pick up on the car salesman subtly fishing for tips on behalf of all cars salespeople smile on a the other thread, do many customers on the service side tip, or leave a bottle etc?

I saw someone doing it in the Merc dealer I used to use - must admit it had never occurred to me before. Wondering if I need to drop something in to my indie at Christmas.

Yep, we get biscuits mainly and around Christmas, the odd chocolate selection box or tub.

Completely out of control thread. I had some berk recently trying to hunt me down by goading me in to giving out private details in a ridiculously transparent attempt to attack me - wonder what goes through some people's heads on here.

Indeed, sounds scary. You need to report that kind of stuff though HD.

A slab of beer gets you remembered when a favour is due. One lady used to bring in piles of cheese, she was very popular.

Isn't it interesting that wherever I post, suddenly you show up shouting the odds. The only way you could possibly be so quick to respond to everything I post is either:

a) You have my profile as your home page on your web browser
b) You've programmed an Alexa/Siri device to immediately notify you every time I post something and you drop whatever you're doing to rush online and retort or
c) You actually pay an employee to monitor my actions and alert you when I post.

We've seen definitive evidence on here that people are quite happy to go out of their way to take this to 'the real world' and stir up unnecessary problems, causing damage, wrecking livelihoods, ruining lives. Yet you were among the group before egging me on to say exactly where and when I was going to be test driving a car and ridiculing me when I refused to disclose such information.

TBH with my experience of dealers I wouldn't bother as it never gets to the intended recipients... It goes into the service managers office never to be seen again at least not by anyone else in the service dept (disgruntled former techie speaking, now working somewhere else where tipping isn't accepted as it's seen as a form of bribery even when not intended as such... Never got it before so don't feel like I'm missing out now lol).

Everyone who works here has a crack at the biscuits or chocolates, sales, service, parts and techies.

Except I have been following this thread way before you posted. I think you're probably flattering yourself a little.

What's the most "profitable" job from a service point of view? i.e. what earns you the most money for the least hassle?
