For a daily the Focus, although after a lengthy drive of a Meg 275 Trophy I would have that over the Focus.

For a weekend car the Escort in Monte flavour

...I would take an Intergrale over the Escort though, not very good answers really OP!

Many prefer not to go LHD ,doesn't bother me with my Fiat.

I hear that a lot, but my neighbour has a Mk3 FRS in blue, and I think it looks ridiculous, in a good way!

As a weekend car a LHD Intergrale wouldn't bother me.

I would say the Focus, but I'd be concerned about the engine exploding and WBAC offering me £5 for it. wink

I think I'd probably have the Escort, Imperial Blue with a rear wing delete, just the boot lid spoiler. I like the opening quarter vents and dished 5-spoke 8" alloys. I could see pop down the road to my friend's and blag one of his set of 18" alloys ( same pattern ) off him so I could get the latest performance tyres on it. Few little detail bits on, 6 degree beam, a set of APs and probably an extra 100bhp just to keep up with the traffic.
Wouldn't be new but I like the feel and rawness of old stuff

The Cosworth, because it would make me happy.

I found the Focus a big big disappointment (a bit like the 2nd Nolan Batman film, it was pretty good, but I was lead to believe it was as significant as Christ on his second coming doing a duet with Elvis on his comeback tour).

With little experience of either, I'd pick the older car purely because I prefer the look of it. Like the previous poster though, I'd much rather an Integrale Evo I or II

Not sure I've ever seen a de-winged Cossie out on the road - did everyone fit them eventually? Am I right in thinking it only became an option once homologation had been fully achieved, and when the small turbo came along

I deffo wouldn't have bought an aero delete car ,plonkers think they're not real Cosworths.

Not sure about the question but I saw a delete car in Italy last year ,it was a Martini edition too,

I've seen a few 'de-winged' as Leins puts it. I wouldn't really care what others thought of it....it would be a car for me

Seeing as we're talking rear spoilers ,just seen a pic of what Wheeler Dealers have fitted to one of these.

I won't spoil it but it looks awesome.

Think that's about right, it certainly wasn't a standard option from new.

The 'spoiler delete' as my book calls it, was most popular in Germany, apparently. I love the Escort Cosworth but it needs that beautiful wing on the back.

When the mk2 Focus RS came out, Autocar did a three way video test between the mk1,2 and Escort Cosworth.

The Escort came a poor thirds, the mk1 won...

Someone cleverer than me may be able to link to it...

100% Cosworth. Based on recent reports it's probably more reliable than the MK3 RS anyway plus will have cost you less when/if you come to flog it.

I like the look of the Escos but you just know its a bit lame these days, its more a state of mind than a car, boyhood dream fulfilled but likely a huge disappointment to drive like the Sapphire Cosworth I drove, that said its currently a better place to put 35k than a new MK3 Focus RS.

The Focus RS has its haters, am sure it isnt perfect, but then neither was the Escort Cosworth when it was introduced, nostalgia is a powerful and dangerous thing, but I guess it doesnt matter so much if there are enough similarly afflicted people keeping the prices daft.

The thing is, currently the FRS has lost its hype and there are plenty around for reasonable money, everyone saying they would rather have a MK2 or MK1, so prices of those have gone up, there was a time they were plentiful and cheap, its a lifecycle pattern that gets applied all the time, wait 2 or 3 years, get a mk3 at the low point, then watch it go back up like the two did, try to see past the current conceived view.

You can pay 20, 30 or even 40 grand for a MK3 Escort RS Turbo which amazes me, they were alright but by god you would have to be keen to pay that !

Go watch the Carfection Escort RS Cosworth vs Focus RS Mk3 video from a few weeks ago with Henry Catchpole, he still rated the escort as an entertaining and fun drive even today.

I quite like the Davide Cironi ones - this is 90s Rally Legends so no Focus RS sorry - Delta and Celica though
