Not nice. Usually driven by provincial Brexiteers with a little england flag on the number plate.
I'd say that is very true about the X-Type and the S-Type but not really the XJ. I think they are too poor/skinflinty to pay the running costs.
You could be onto something there you know... scratchchin

I know for sure that the only constituency in the entire UK to elect a UKIP politician to parliament is absolutely awash with worn out old X Types.

They'll usually be spotted either parked outside a equally tired semi or 'oliday 'ome caravan by the sea with a huge St Georges flag on a pole in the front garden or they'll be monopolizing the disabled parking bays of the local Harvester and will almost certainly have been driven there by a short, overweight and rather dim witted moron who's absolutely incandescent with rage about something the Daily Mail exclusively revealed to him earlier in the day abahhht 'bleedin forerinaz coming over 'ere and scrounging all our 'bleedin benefits.

Hmmm... certainly NOT my experience when I called about an SL a couple years ago. Was shocked at how rude the guy the other end of the phone was.

There was a thread here a few months ago where someone commented that the X and S Type were now very UKIP-y and it absolutely crystalised my view of the people who own them now. Red faced, unhealthy looking, pretty much exactly as you describe. Oh, and always in the ones with the crappest engines.

I guess you guys think we should let a limitless number of foreigners into our country. I mean China, Korea, Pakistan, Japan, etc. are all over 20% a foreign race and still letting more in, aren't they.......

I think you should realise that 'foreigners' are just other human beings, and we live on a very small planet with a global economy, global communications, and limited global resources.

Small-minded isolationism might have been an option 300 years ago, but it won't work any more. smile

I'm not going to answer that directly, but something that always strikes me is that the foreigners that Brexiteers dislike having here are quite often the ones who came from outside the EU. As in the EU had no influence on the number that were permitted to immigrate, it was an entirely an internal UK matter.

But fk it, sovereignty will sort it all out right?

Try telling that to non European countries. You should realize that no country outside of Europe is going to do the same. A few and fair enough, but not over 20%, and still letting more in. Stop being so weak and pathetic.

Ah, typical Ye Olde British mind set.

Doesn't mind invading other countries, hates it when their work follows them home.

Of course they are human beings and ultimately like it or not we're all going to be affected by the same global issues.

Those human beings from other parts of the world are more than welcome to come and make a positive contribution to the UK economy whenever the opportunity presents, especially when the indigenous population is either too lazy or too self entitled or too thick to get off the settee and compete with them or are like me, along with millions of others, simply becoming too old and knackered to do so anymore.

Aaaaaanyhoooo... Back to the SOTW whistle

Some burn in here for the X-Type!

I must admit, however, that since joining a particularly useful facebook group, I have noticed how many utter morons own these cars.

They're usually the ones that complain about running costs (which are very, very reasonable), and stick tacky peado-chrome badges and leapers all over their cars.

Saddening really, because for what it is, the X-Type isn't bad at all. I put my money where my mouth is!

Good article 9/10 from me .I had one of these a few years ago but did not keep it for very long despite all of the positive things mentioned above. They are one of the best Jaguars in many respects [I have had a few over the years] but this one did not tick all of the boxes.#1. the driving position/ergonomics are terrible and the headroom etc is very poor for this class of car.I am only 6ft tall, so larger people would really struggle getting in and out. #2 The Headlining was in the usual state of "droop" which added to the somewhat claustrophobic feel. Apart from that, this is a good car for the money, and it performs really well even by today's standards.I would recommend these to anyone, but suggest that you "try-it-out" before you buy [of course they say] especially as far as the driving position etc is concerned....and be sure it has a good set of bills/service history and the headlining is in the right place as this is a Ba£&@)d to replace.
