And most future Holdens (including the new Insignia-based Commodore) will be Peugeot products not GM products given the PSA takeover of Opel.

They’re GM really - they’ll be built by a subsidiary of Peugeot but they were designed and engineered while Opel was fully integrated into GM

The future Opels and Vauxhalls that are more closely related to Peugeots are unlikely to be supplied to GM

This is not a Vauxhall....it’s just sold and badged as one.

I’m sure most of us Holden/HSV owners don’t care what you would rather have, we quite like our exclusive club thanks.

74k for a vauxhall is pretty extortionate. Dont get me wrong its cheaper than its rivals by some margin but it has a vauxhall badge. I'm a vauxhall guy through and through, they're in my blood but you'd have to be clinically insane to spend 74k on any vauxhall
Speaking as an ex-Monaro owner, Vauxhall Customer Services in Luton will invite you to go forth and multiply just as quickly if you spend £74k on one of their cars as if you'd spent single-digit money on the cheapest Viva available. Much as I might like something like this, they won't ever be getting another penny from me, not even via the used market.

Whereas I'm the exact opposite. Wouldn't spend someone else's money on a Vauxhall, if there comes a day where I show any kind of intent to buy one I'd hope my family would do the decent thing and ship me off to Dignitas. But if I had £80k or so to drop on a fast saloon, I would be straight down to their showroom for one of these.

As someone else said - it's all about having a bit of soul. It's not a perfect car and doesn't give a st whether you like it. The complete antithesis of its German competition.

Exactly.

Although £74k is NOT that much cheaper than its rivals. New M5 isn't much more and the base spec is pretty comprehensive!
Isn't the M5 90k in base spec?

That's exactly what he said?

In as much as the current GM Holdens aren't going to be built anymore so anything new Holden badged will be a PSA Vauxhall/Opel.

EDIT - Unless GM kept Holden?

You can get 10% off. Perhaps you can on the have, too. Not sure. They are fun cars. My bother had one. A GTS. It’s not the same thing as m5/e63. But that may appeal to some

The Holden factory in Elizabeth South Australia closes its production line on 17th October.
Factory decommissioning starts on the 20th October.
Holden is still GM owned.

You'd need to compare it with the E63 S as the BHP is similar therefore the cars are on more of level comparison.

Here's a 67 plate (the same Reg as the GTS-R would be) & it's significantly more expensive.

Even the outgoing M5 is more expensive.

Or you can go silly & drop 120k on this pre registered car:

Fantastic car but 75k? Really? Way too close to the Germans.

This is as much a Vauxhall as a dog born in a stable being a horse.

Do the series 1 VXR8s look better - probably
Were they better value - probably, especially at £22,500 brand new in 2009
Should they have sold them as Holdens - probably
Is it dynamically the best £75k car out there - probably not
But is it desirable and does it make people want it - definitely yes, so there's your answer.

I must to say that is a very impressive car, sadly 74k out of my own money is too rich for me.
However....I still own a Monaro. (10yrs and counting) so all is not lost.
These cars will be on the collectors dream list that's for sure, unlike the future Vauxhall,Peugeot horrors that might be hitting the show rooms in a few years time.
