Jaguar and Land Rover products must be a TATA then.
What a load of bks.
It’s a difficult question to answer. And many uptight Brits are likely to irrational and down right dumb about it, with a total pig ignorance to accept facts. What a load of bks.
For now. I’d say they are a foreign owned British car maker. On the sole basis the cars are not branded and sold under different names in different countries. Production is in the U.K. and the actual models hale from Jaguar/Land Rover. Not from the parent company.
For the likes of Vauxhall and Holden this hasn’t been the case for at least half a century if not a lot longer.
Saying they're a foreign owned British car maker is just admitting that they're British but trying to salvage some credibility for yourself.
Everyone knows they're foreign owned but it doesn't make them any less British. Just like foreign ownership of an Italian, French, German, Swedish, American etc makes them any less of that nationality.
I mean, if we go to an Italian/Chinese/Indian/etc restaurant but they're wholly owned and run by some Brits then it's not a British restaurant is it?

the australian car industry was innovative and successful, the lack of population made it un-economic
Do your research,it had nothing to do with the lack of “population”.”The Button car Plan” (Senator John Button(Federal minister for commerce & trade),member of the Hawke -Keating labor Govt.He was notable for introducing the “Button Plan”which which commenced in 1985 involved modernising Australia,s car industry by reducing tariffs & government protection & modernising the industry. That is when the “rot” set in,& when the market started to be flooded with cheap imports(Hyundai Exels, etc....) @ cheap drive away & sharp pricing. As a result our auto makers just could not compete & literally where caught with their pants down,by being not innovative enough & quick enough to adapt to change. And as they say the rest is “History”.Personally I think our market has benefited from this with a lot more innovative vehicles & selection in our market. Will not miss Holden @ all, their range was very ordinary to say the least.Commodore was way past it’s use by date.CheersReally informative video here about Holden and the massive amounts of public money which was given to them

As was Ford & Toyota given massive subsidies! Nothing new there.I really object to any Gov’t “giving” tax payer monies to Auto makers. They gave out $500,million for a “Green innovation fund”,bit of a dud that one. This was to fund “green technology” in the OZ auto industry.EG:Hybrid Toyota Camry,Ford’s LPG program & also their 4cyl engine for the Falcon.Cheershttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uFYW5tMoeg
