When we are talking AMV8 styling being the best, I would modify it ever so slightly to the V12V. I submit the below as evidence:

That's the car I posted earlier, but ruined with Fast and The Furious tacky detailing. Pity.

I'm struggling to see the "F&F tacky detailing". Are you sure you're watching the same movies as me?

(Aside from the [functional] air vents, that's pretty much a plain Vantage. I'm confused as to what's been added on there)

The bonnet vents on the V12V are horrifically disproportionate; otherwise it's a nice looking thing. smile

I still prefer the simpler lines of the V8 though.

I don't disagree - except I always thought they were functional due to the size of the V12 engine compared to the V8 resulting in the need for better cooling/air flow?

It's a bit too busy for my taste: the strange 'lining' around the grille aperture, and the sills. The plain V8 on the previous page is very elegant.

The awful bonnet vents and that grille. It's like an Aston Martin ST - that sort of thing is alright on a Focus.

The V8 is such a pretty car, it doesn't need chavving up.

Less is more!

Each to their own, I suppose. I'm really not seeing it - and I'd like to think that I am not a chav! smile All down to personal taste, innit! wink

I can't believe how awkward and ill proportioned this is
Don't like it? Don't buy it.

Your opinion is it doesn't look good. My opinion, and many others who will buy this car, is that it looks great. To be honest, whether it makes a 'money' statement to anyone is irrelevant to me as I have never cared what people think when it comes to the cars I like, I just think I could park it up and look at it for hours! I think the proportions are lovely and have definitely moved the game on in a modern way.

You talk about the new BMW 8-series being better looking (and it is a lovely car) and Chris Bangle being a great designer but a) Bangle had nothing to do with the current 8-series, it was designed externally by John Buckingham and b) I find it hard to believe that Bangle's 6-series would be considered anywhere near as good-looking as this Aston; that car remains one of the ugliest, ill-proportioned and most disjointed designs of any GT car in recent memory IMO. In fact, I'll say the market agrees with me as the 'Bangle 6' sold about 116,000 units worldwide; the current one has sold over 140,000...

I happen to live near owners of both the new DB11 and the current Vanquish and regularly see them on their daily commute every morning (sometimes even in convoy) - I definitely am more aesthetically drawn to the newer car even though the current Vanquish is not ugly by any means.

Seriously considering a V8 DB11 as my next steed although the new V8 Vantage might cause a late upset!

They are functional. You just need to look down the bonnet at the quantity of hot air coming out of them.

I used to now a guy who had a Bentley Conti SS with the bonnet vents. He said that the air coming out of the vents was such in the summer, that it blurred your view ahead. I guess he must have had a habit of giving it the nuts quite often in order to get that heat going!! smile

I shan't, not even when it's old/crap enough for my modest budget. biggrin

Still think it's absolutely gopping though, as is the Bangle 6 Series. They resemble a melted Dalek, horrid things.

I see a DB11 near me (near Tibshelf) now and again and it's not a pretty sight. It does have a spectacularly naff number plate as well.
