Nobody believes there is any chance of another independence vote in Scotland until some time in the middle of the next decade.
Easily disproved with one statement.
I think there will be another referendum in Scotland before the middle of the next decade.

There you go. Thanks for playing.

How leavers think Brexit is still a good idea beggars belief. The sheer incompetence of government should make them realise what a shambles the UK is.

This country is falling apart very quickly - let's see where it goes over the next few years..

What complete nonsense that is, you must be on the old sauce. If you want to see a Country falling apart then pop over to Greece, that's a Country falling apart and it's stuck in the EU just to compound its woes.

That makes me think that the EU have made the mistake of pushing through the political/economic union too quickly and hard, give it another 30 years and it would happen naturally without any fuss.
The result-by-age just reflects the propaganda they have taught in schools over the years.

Those aged 50 to 100 were taught the British Empire is amazing.
Those aged 30 to 50 were taught the EU Empire is great and the British Empire saved the world from Nazi terror.
These aged 18 to 30 were taught the EU Empire is amazing.

Try Spain, now jailing political prisoners in Catalonia again.

I'm 51, I left secondary school in 82.

The EU at that time didn't exist, Empire wasn't on anyone's mind, we were all more concerned about the total collapse of our industry as all the factories shut down and the press tooling was shipped abroad. I still have my last year school project I did for Geography that catalogued all the factory closures in my area of Manchester, vivid memories of workers padlocking themselves to factory gates to try and stop the machine tools being removed. It was beyond grim after 9 years of EEC membership that had seen us go cap in hand to the IMF.

I also finished in 82, we were more concerned about the threat of a nuclear war between the USA and USSR than anything else.

I'd already compartmentalised that in my mind as there being fook all I could do about it. I had already decided if the big bombs were coming, I'd cycle to the centre of Manchester and wait for the big bang. The other option was run for the Pennines. biggrin

I spent 3 years in the ATC at secondary school and had spent time in some of the front line RAF bases in Germany during that time, so got that fear out of my system. I spent one week with 8.5 squadron crawling inside Jaguars, which was pretty cool. (we called 17 squadron that because they lost half their aircraft that year on exercises redface )

No they are protecting democracy and their constitution by not tolerating an illegal referendum that ignores the will of the majority of Catalans who want to also remain Spanish.

Probably not the correct thread for this, but they have jailed two politicians without trial. http://www.politico.eu/article/spanish-court-jails...

I’m 50. The Empire was
long gone by the time I was born and we were taught nothing of the sort. Same goes for the younger age groups.

You really are tedious.

The thread i read on here, after the result were in, certainly suggested that. It appeared that many were actually so happy, that they went out and celebrated the occasion, too.

You are right, of course. Whether you were actually for or against Brexit, it really doesn't matter anymore. We've all now got to go through this as a country and accept the consequences.

That's probably the bit that annoys me the most, out of all of this.

Absolutely agree. We are all strapped in for the same ride. We can either resist the inevitable or make the best of it.

Is it inevitable?

There's already talk of a half-way house to 2021.
