Does this affect me if I run vegetable oil in my 2006 diesel? Or does this affect only users of diesel/petrol fuel?

I think you need to calm down.
People seem to be getting hot an bothered about things that dont affect them, but they are telling others to calm down. hehe
Who isn't going to be affected by what now?

You must have been talking about Black Cab drivers and their filthy fking taxis hehe

I sold my 24 year old GT-Four Celica partly because of ULEZ, I cannot imagine this will be the last of it either it will stretch further the more money it generates. My actual address ends in Surrey, but for the purposes of when money is required I will then become London. I think the crux of it is what is London? I don't feel like I live in London, but for some reason many people use the M25 as a definition for it, even commentators on TV class Watford as a London football team which is bonkers if you think about it. I am in the ULEZ in Richmond, but certainly don't feel like I live in London.

Check your car on their web site. If it's in the not allowed group then it is not allowed in. I know you can have motorbikes testing and if they pass then allowed in but I don't know about cars. If you convert and register as electric you can also get in for free.

You can apply for a case by case exemption, I think if you can demonstrate that your car meets Euro 4 as a minimum then they'll let you off.

Outside the zone here in BR8 but our BTL in Lee is about 100ft inside the death zone.

What idiot thought this would be a vote winner.

I don't understand why that's funny?
Almost all petrol cars sold after January 2005 in the UK would need to have been Euro 4 compliant. So therefore your car is compliant. Am I missing something?
So you don't know either, and you thought you were being clever/funny? Nice.

Random question, apropos of nothing - do you even live in London?

I'm perfectly calm. laugh

I'm just interested why someone obviously not from London is taking delight that his compliant car is compliant.
Or are you 'sticking it to the man' too? laugh

It affects you, and ignore the TfL vehicle checker as it’s still inaccurate. Effectively, if your diesel car didn’t meet Euro 6 when built (and it obviously didn’t), you’re paying the tax (unless you can find a supplier of an approved retrofit option which will be a) very expensive, and, b) impossible on a 13 year old car).

Wait...

So you don't live in the proposed 2021 ULEZ expansion area (it runs along the A205 in East Sheen and over Kew Bridge - Richmond is clearly outside), but you already felt compelled to sell your car because of it?

Do you think you might just be overreacting a tiny bit?

I mean, he was right... 54% of people voted in favour of it during the consultation.

But apart from that, who in their right mind would think this is a good idea? laugh

Wait....

I have to drive into that zone all the time because it is literally 400m from my house, so yes, of course it was a consideration. And no its not an overreaction, it impacts what I use the car for. Just because someone doesn't live in it those who live on the border don't always come out their house, get in the car and drive away from it, that's just daft. And spend a bit of time reading my previous comment, it was part of the reason, not the compelling reason.

So it wasn't the main reason you sold your car?

But you thought you'd just mention that for added impact?

Right...

54% of 37,513 people voted in favour. Just 20,257 people out of London's ~8m population specifically voted for it.

Are you sure that applies to a car? I have read it does for motorcycles but nowhere have I read that about cars.

No it wasn't the main reason, I didn't say it was, but it certainly was a consideration. I said that in the post, you just didn't read it properly and therefore you didn't understand correctly before slightly smarmy and condescending response was put in print on the thread.

There are plenty of people in the same boat around the border line of the ULEZ making similar calls on cars that they might otherwise have kept. It's quite frankly a sensible and obvious factor of car ownership come 2021 in areas around the ULEZ, even if you are not in it how often are cars used that do not qualify that would impact your usage of it.

Central London
London
Greater London (M25)

Is how I see it.

I'm not entirely sure, you're right and it doesn't specifically say anywhere. I'd say try writing to them first, you might be able to put it through an IVA and have it re-classified.

Yes could agree to a point, I guess its funny how we use roads to define boundaries for this because its convenient. The north and south circular are not actual circles, in fact they make more of a flattened oval, the southern bit doesn't actually go very far south of central london and the northern bit goes much further north. So you can still be much closer to central London in the south and not pay ULEZ charge but be much further out north and still pay.

All that said it is convenient, ideally you would map out the proper boundary and probably take into account the pollution production of individual boroughs, but hey they would cost a fortune to implement laugh

Further, you're affected even if running on LPG, or air, as TfL don't want to concern themselves with anything else other than the (fraudulent) emissions data provided by the manufacturer based on an arbitrary EU standard which likely favoured our deceitful German chums in the first place
