I thought the suspension on the R was very good, so a "better" set up is not going to make much gain. The noise wasn't great, I had the titanium and panel filter, but it was still muted. It was just too "safe", too "competent", you knew the diff was always going to work, but it was never that transparent in the way Diffs in Type Rs are.
The damping, cage, etc made it feel special at low speeds, a mini fwd, gt3rs if you will. But paradoxically, it was too competent at higher speeds, and I never felt part of the drive. Just a passenger. I like a more mechanical feel to cars.
My Cup-S is the opposite, it only starts working at 8/10ths, which is track only. The setup is very aggressive for a road going car. The rear end is very mobile, in a good way.The damping, cage, etc made it feel special at low speeds, a mini fwd, gt3rs if you will. This is the definition of a very aggressively set up road car. It's an animal to drive.

I love the DC5's handling, at least in std form. The video you linked doesn't include much in the way or corners though.

The turbo'd DC5 has one of the most aggressive LSDs. It's amazing in the corners, and a bit scary at times. Seriously engaging car that makes most Other cars feel soft.

Like most heavily modified cars it wont be easy to live with
My ep3's quite heavily modified and it's really no more difficult to live with than a standard one, the diff makes it lively on heavily cambered roads and it's a little stiffer than stock but it's easy to live with. My wife dislikes it greatly though so I suppose it boils down to personal tolerances, to drive it's far more engaging than any of the modern hot hatches I've driven.Alpinestars said:

Thank fk I've got rid of my DC5 , if that's the type of wallopers that now have them. What a pair of dicks! This is the definition of a very aggressively set up road car. It's an animal to drive.

I am a big fan of the M140i but have you driven the Civic or a humble Megane RS or a DC5, whether on road or track ?
They are dynamically as good IME, some would say they are sharper, particularly on turn-in. They certainly understeer less out of the box, but that's obviously down to set up rather than which wheels are driven.
I think there is a strong element of subjectivity too and personal preference.
I've driven the Megane and I agree, it's got something special - often thought about buying an old R26 to tinker with. Fair point on preference, each to their own and all that. They are dynamically as good IME, some would say they are sharper, particularly on turn-in.
