RE: BMW M3 CS spied

You can turn off the piped in sound on on the F80 via bimmerlink. Mine was much nicer place to be after that
But I sold it after 3 months, I wanted to love it like I loved my E46 many years ago. But I couldn't. It was fast and....a bit boring.
£85k for a car that will depreciate like a stone is ridiculous as well. Look at 2nd hand F80 prices, they've plummeted and big discounts were available.
Now, a 911 Carrera-t for £90k.....I fancy one of them.....

For all those that think £85k is too much....there is a simple solution...don't buy one!!
You have to presume BMW know their market and if there are enough gullible people out there....personally I say good luck to both BMW and their customers.
For me the sweet spot in range is the Competition Pack (at a discounted price) - any more than that you're just wasting your money...

Might as well chime in here as I have a F80 M3 (best make sure to park in the barry boy section at Silverstone on Sunday).
On topic...the CS looks fantastic and there is a lot of desire (from me) to have one, but I'd agree with pretty much everyone here that 85 - 90k is just too much for an M3. That said, it didn't stop them shifting the 30th Anniversary Ed at the ~same cost, so sure they'll sell plenty of these to warrant adding it to the list.
Off topic...the fake sounds, I'm fine with it, but get people's opinion. In no way does it sound like a V10 (that's absurd). It can be turned off easily with an app or pulling the plug out; so not buying a car because of this is again....absurd.
Comparing to the Alfa....I traded my M4 Vert in for the M3, I had a deposit down on the Alfa, it's so much prettier but it would have cost more (last Dec) for one, is a bit less practical and given how many issues I've seen people have had with them, I'm glad I stuck with BMW. That said, if I see one I know I'll think twice again.
Massively off topic but how do you find the M4 vert compares to the M3 from a performance perspective? Guessing slower and not as sharp but how significant is it?On topic...the CS looks fantastic and there is a lot of desire (from me) to have one, but I'd agree with pretty much everyone here that 85 - 90k is just too much for an M3. I’m in the market for one or the other in the next few months and can’t really make up my mind whether to go for practicality or pose! I don’t really need the practicality as the wife has an X5 so leaning towards the M4 vert. Don’t fancy the coupe so if the performance is naff will go for the M3.
Thanks.

I prefer the M4 shape personally but both are fabulous cars. I had tentative interest in both CS models but then I found out there was no manual option which made it easy to overlook. I’m kind of pleased because reconciling the sheer price of these things vs the ordinary M cars is seriously difficult and I don’t imagine deals will be on the cards....

The manual would have made sense in 2005. Nowadays with all the econonsense, clutch dump valves, rev hang etc making sure the emissions aren't too off the scale and castrating the manual experience autos are the only pure option left.stiII_I_undomyseatbelts said:

I still think there is a place for the manual box on performance cars. Having driven a DCT M4 last weekend I get the appeal of the flappy paddle when there is 400lbft+to contend with, but I would have liked the challenge of taming it. I'm also not a fan of the ZF8 box either, although I have only used it with diesels.Mike335i said:

If not I refer you to the 911 T thread
- But only on pistonheads forumland - as is every car they are all crap and over priced etc
I think both the M3CS and 911T sound like great cars, I'd be happy with either
I agree 100% They are over priced esp the M3, but nowadays an Elise can cost £65k and an evora 120k or something!
Sadly this is just the new normal !
