Interesting!
I have a V90 with the same system and have occasionally tried to provoke it without success so Im keen to know the circumstances in which you taught him a lesson good and proper
Cheers
I have a V40 with City Safe and it has gone off a few times. A couple of times with cyclists cutting across in front in slow moving traffic, other times when I have pulled into gaps a bit quick and it picks up the car in front. I've not had a pedestrian set it off yet though.I have a V90 with the same system and have occasionally tried to provoke it without success so Im keen to know the circumstances in which you taught him a lesson good and proper

I was under the assumption that these systems only detected metal objects?
They are supposed to detect pedestrians too. https://www.media.volvocars.com/global/en-gb/media...

Me yesterday,
At a certain set of lights people take advantage of the right hand filter for the wrong reasons, anyway
Said car did the trick and pulled into my lane nearly missing me, I went for the horn - first time I've attempted to use it in 1.5 years - didn't realise how to work it in time so by the time I did find it and pressed the horn the moment had passed - I pressed it twice too and seeing as I've never heard it before it was quite the embarrassing pathetic parp noise...

Being an oldie I always thump the centre of the wheel, which no longer works as there is now an airbag there. Once upon a time the horn was on the end of the indicator stalk which was also fun trying to find when needed.

My ultimate knob moment happened thumping the centre of an airbag wheel.Once upon a time the horn was on the end of the indicator stalk which was also fun trying to find when needed.
Driving along the M11 and I needed to turn off, put my signals on but I'd left it a bit late and the van on my inside wasn't about to give way so I missed my turning. I was pissed. It was a long way to the next junction so I could U-Turn and in a fit of pique I slammed my fist into the steering wheel. Now, if anyone has had the misfortune of being in a crash you know how loud and unpleasant an airbag going off is. Now imagine you're doing 70mph in traffic and you've just been flashbanged by your own car, then while still dazed you have to try and deflate the bag and somehow keep using the wheel.
Not my proudest moment, all the other drivers found it very amusing.

Airbags are triggered by electric signal, no matter how hard you punch it wouldn't fire.
If you you understand how they work it would be improbable as well as you wrist would break due to force, if it happened outside your imagination.
Technically speaking you could punch it hard enough to induce the current in the connector wires, but the force required would liquidise the bones in your arm, and destroy the car.If you you understand how they work it would be improbable as well as you wrist would break due to force, if it happened outside your imagination.
