Sorry; but if the answers to those questions was a determining factor to getting the job I probably don't want to work there.

Do you read the Daily Mail? = Are you a gullible puppet? How did you vote in the EU referendum? = Are you racist?

Isn’t the latter illegal? Your vote is private and has no place in a job interview surely?
I would never ask this type of question myself, but always thought political belief was (controversially) not a protected characteristic in the equality act (race, religion and various other things are but not political belief). Would there be some other law prevent asking these questions?

Nah.
Agreed. I've had the misfortune to trigger the driver's airbag once. You wouldn't be able to keep controlling the car and try to deflate it that's for sure.

"I had been flashing my lights at him to get him to move and when I got level with him I gave him a stern look to say the least."

yes great idea flashing your lights, did you really want him to drive off leaving a young boy mid-piss in lane one?

Always nice to observe natural selection doing its job.

The total scum of the Earth who performed an elaborate con trick to steal a wheelchair accessible vehicle from valet parking in Miami Int'l Airport so that when we arrived from the UK at 1830 today it was not there. All offices were shut. That person is a knob.

Knob points also to the wheelchair car hire company who have had this done to them twice in the same location. Slow to learn I think. Leaving the car with valet parking is a stupid system anyway. I wasn't comfortable with it from the start.

Top marks to the local rental assistant though, who had a call from the CEO telling her to sort it out. She acted quickly, just sadly not quickly enough to avoid us paying for a night in the Airport Hotel.

At least I now have a car!

I had a pick up mount the pavement heading towards me because the driver was staring at his phone. I couldn't get his number or I would have reported him.

We need more info. Like "was the dog on a lead" or "under control by it's owner" at the time.

A bunch of us out mountain biking once nearly ran over a wailing Banshee's Jack Russell. She went off on one about suing us, and "what would have happened if you'd ran it over?"

She didn't take kindly to the suggestion that she ought to have had the dog under control, because it was forty feet away when we picked our line down the hill deliberately to avoid her, her fat chavvy family, and their yappy mutts. But it was our fault that we'd nearly run the beast over after it had run those forty feet to get to us with it's snarling and bared teeth.

And the what would have happened if we'd run it over? Well the Orthopaedic Veterinary Surgeon who was leading the ride would probably have treated it for free. He didn't think much of the care and control this weeble was exercising over her dog any more than the rest of our group.

Suffice to say, things escalated when it was pointed out that there were bylaws in place requiring her to have the dog under control on an MOD training area. Her response was to wail repeatedly that it was common land because she'd "read it on the internet". And her male companions? The fat fkers decided they'd like to escalate it to violence, which was a laughable suggestion given their obvious weight-related physical limitations.

She's probably screaming "it's common land you ccensoredts" at the top of her voice even now, 18 months on. And she probab;y still lets the nasty little st of a dog off the lead in areas frequented by cyclists too. Because doing the sensible thing and taking better care of her dog would be far more hassle than causing unnecessary confrontation.

So. For the benefit of those of us who cannot be faffed with Facebook, please provide the details of the case. Preferably with some sort of independent corroboration of the whole sorry tale by an eyewitness not linked to the dog owner. I'm not suggesting that the story is made up, but there are three sides to every story. The claim, the counterclaim, and then there's the truth, usually found somewhere between the two.

True story time? I was cycling up a restricted byway, up hill, so probably around 5 mph to 8 mph, not even jogging pace. Suddenly, from out of the woodland on my right, came a Border Collie. Snarling, bared teeth, belly to the ground, it came charging at me, missed, but came around from behind me for a second attempt. It bit my foot, but stout shoes and the pedal underneath persuaded it to let go before it drew blood. But the snarling beast had triggered a "fight or flight" decision. And that was to fight, because I instinctively knew there was no way i could outrun it. So I leapt off the bike, made myself as big as possible, and raised a fist to punch the deranged dog square in the head. Trouble was, it wouldn't stay still to be hit. But i was yelling and screaming, threatening to beat it to death against a tree if i caught it, and at that point in proceedings I bloody-well meant it too.

Then two women emerged from the woods and the dog fked off with it's tail between it's legs. Their response to the suggestion that the dog had bitten me and was therefore dangerously out of control? "It's only a dog!" Quite. With all the teeth and claws and unpredictable behaviour of a canine. And more than capable of killing an adult human being if it so desired.

What's my point? Dog owners (and their precious "fur babies") are not always the most reasonable life forms on the canal towpath, they are definitely not always as benign as they'd like you to believe, and when push comes to shove and they need to persuade the court of public opinion that they've been hard-done-by, they'll lie through their miserable teeth and never back down when faced with a few home truths.

Today I was out walking my 5 month old puppy on the Wirral Way in Heswall. I was with a couple of family members and 2 of their dogs. A cyclist came hurtling down the path at full speed and took out my little puppy in the wheels.

He has consequently broken 2 bones in his leg. There were also a couple of other walkers with a dog behind us but the cyclist had refused to stop or slow down to consider anyone else on the path. He cycled off straight away after taking my puppy out and when he was stopped further down the path by a couple of lads he just hurled abuse at them.

He had already been told further up the path by another lady to slow down but ignored her. The Wirral Way is a public path where there are numerous signs that indicate how cyclists are to give way to walkers. I am horrified at the outrageous behaviour of such an individual who clearly doesn’t even begin to understand the damage he has caused.

As he cycled off so quickly a couple of walkers could only get a picture of the back of him. He was around mid 50s, long grey straggly hair. He had a sharp face with black sunglasses, black cycling pants and a bright red cycling jacket. All dog walkers be careful out there. This matter has been reported to the police so if anyone thinks they know who this is, please get in touch.''

Yup. A bunch. As in "more than one". among them a Dentist, an engineer, a senior manager at a leading international computer software company, and a vet. Average age about 54 years old, absolutely sensible, mature, and gentlemen to the last.

Well that just looks like it's a case of a very ignorant, very arrogant ahole at large on a bicycle. With that sort of attitude to other path users, he probably drives an X5 when he's not riding a bike. Either that or a Transit tipper. Me? I have no issues on canal paths. Principally because I usually stop when other users need to pass, whether they are walkers, dog owners, or other cyclists.

I was on a riverside path on Friday when a couple appeared from the opposite direction. They made to get out of my way, but I stopped at the left hand side of the path until they'd passed me. It was very muddy at that point, and quite obviously would have put this older couple to a great deal of trouble to get out of my way, in very slippery conditions.

Then, as they were almost alongside me, another cyclist appeared from behind them. He made no attempt to slow down, and just tore through the middle of the scene. While not exactly "elbow brushing" distance, he was clearly too close to the woman in the couple for her comfort. And I agreed with her. Too close, and too fast. But he was oblivious, riding along in a world of his own with his big "Beats" headphones on, head down, pedalling as hard as conditions allowed.

The woman rolled her eyes at me and gave the dhead a dirty look. I responded with "some do, some don't" and we had a brief chat. There are loads of aholes about on bicycles. But then there are also plenty of dhead walkers out there, who have plenty of opportunity to leave space to pass them but refuse to do anything to cooperate or deconflict. Same in cars. This thread is full of posts about people who will escalate a disagreement to a conflict simply to make a point and exercise their "right" to do something or other, or to get one car further forward in a queue. But we don't consequently tar all drivers with the same brush.

And whilst there's no defence if the description in that Facebook post is true, there are plenty of idiots to be found on the "wrong" side of segregated paths with their heads buried in Facebook or whatever, expecting the world to make allowances for their selfish stupidity. it's just a symptom of modern life, unfortunately. Hopefully, if the story is true, the sharp-faced, grey-haired fatty will be outed, and the RSPCA will prosecute him for causing unnecessary suffering or something that will attract a custodial sentence, and he'll be made to pay the owners' vet bill. But it should also serve as a warning to those that would happily take up the whole width of a footpath and decide not to cooperate with reasonable requests to share it with other users. Just because the straggly-haired cyclist is "in the wrong" it doesn't necessarily follow that the group of dog walkers were entirely blameless. These situations are often a case of two wrongs (of varying magnitude) definitely not making a right.
