If you want people to give a st about your cat then don't let it roam about other peoples property stting everywhere and killing wildlife for the fun of it.

There was a thread in the animal section of the forum where someone witnessed a cat getting hit and the driver of the offending car ended up being surrounded and car damaged if I remember correctly.
So spray the thing with a hose, it'll not come back.

Wild birds shouldn't be in urban areas, it's not good for them, not their natural environment, there are predators, this is the fault of the people who put food out for them.

Cats catch and kill vermin such as rats.

People trying to kill other peoples pets, should be shot, cats are family members, they're like children to their owners.
The cats that misbehave are too sly to get caught and hurt, the one's that get hurt/killed are the naive/gentle cats who can only dream of being fast enough to catch a bird.

I'm not a cat person at all............ One of ours was poisoned with anti-freeze 2 years ago, she was the most gentle and trusting cat you'd ever meet, I don't think we ever felt her claws. She was poisoned on my birthday, she took 3 days to die a VERY painful death (ethyl glycol forms sharp crystals in the cats kidneys), the vets bills were £3400, we had to lock up her sister, we had 2 summers where we could not open our windows or doors, her sister would cry all day long.

Since her death, all the local cat owner locked up their cats too (following a Facebook post from the local pub), before this i'd never seen rats in our neighbourhood, but in the 2 years that followed my CCTV started to pick them up every single night.

My GF went into depression over this, our relationship took a real hammering.

If cats are bothering you, all it takes is a water hose, but people choose the most cruel methods to kill what is a much loved family pet, at the risk of getting caught, doing jail time and up to a £30'000 fine.

One cat was sh*tting in our veg garden, so I built (using spare parts) a PIR activated water sprayer to scare it away.

If it ever happens again, I will buy a drone and I will locate the MFer doing it garden by garden, and when I do I won't screw about with frozen sausages, I will cover their vehicles with industrial paint stripper.

No, people are separated into 'people with empathy' and 'sociopaths and psychopaths' or 'people who arent dreadful human beings' and 'PH users with 2CV in their username'.

I'm not being funny, I genuinely fear that you might be a sociopath or a psychopath.

Have you ever been tested for anything?

the whole point however is that you are saying it's down to the person that has an issue with the cat to do something with the cat, because that owner has no ability to control or limit a cat's behaviour, and they don't care anyway. It's someone else's problem, despite them often being low level undesirable to non-cat-owners. Dead animals, st in the garden, i mean they are not the worst things... but the idea is that owners just shrug their shoulders. It's always someone else's fault or responsibility to avoid their cat, accommodate their cat, value their cat, work around the cat... etc. If a cat is such an important 'member of the family' then surely people understand that this is a risk to them if they delegate all that responsibility for their cat's wellbeing and safety to other people who, to them, the cat is no different to a pigeon or whatever. Taking the example of children, if indeed they are just like their owners' children, if your kids are naughty then it's not everyone else's problem - it's yours, whether you are able to control them or not.

surely if i was a psychopath then you'd be on very dodgy ground right now. In reality of course I am not, and you're just trying to elicit a reaction.

You don't know what a psychopath is, do you?

The lack of guilt, remorse or empathy combined with narcissism is a solid indicator of a psychopath. Whenever you pop up on a thread, it don't take too long for you to exhibit those traits. Naturally, you'll dismiss this (because psychopath) but it's maybe one to think about.

it's funny because you don't seem to realise that peoples' Internet personas don't often match their real life ones. Or do you literally live your life online? Who's looking after your cat(s)?

I prefer it to the V8 or even the V6 over here. Then I am old enough to remember the Sierra RS500 and the Mustang Ecoboost is the closest thing a proper two door, rear wheel drive, turbo four pot Ford have made since.

You cannot control a cat, just as you cannot control what a dog or even a child does when outside your field of view.
Cats climb fences, they'll jump out of a window, it's very hard to stop them, if not impossible.

People have cats because they can look after themselves whilst the owners are at work, i'd like dog but unless your long term unemployed or retired, or some upper class snob, you can't have one if you'll leave it at home all day on it's own.
Cats are an option, perhaps the only option for people who actually have a day normal job.
Are we going to ban working class people (if both adults have to work your working class, regardless of what car you have on the drive) from having pets? I think are enough things that the average tax paying drone cannot have or do, without removing the ability to have pets..................

They can have pets but need to be pragmatic about the fact that things can happen to them as a result of their nature and also that many people do not like them and don't have to like them either.

As much as I do like cats, If reduced to a simple trolly problem of "Mittens" or "Oncoming car", which would you swerve into?

I'm somewhat in agreement:- If you release a cat, especially around hedgerow lined NSL roads, and it were to come to an untimely end, as unfortunate as it would be, you don't especially deserve sympathy:- It's the real world, and it's a known fact that animals run in front of traffic.

Would I try to hit an animal? No (Jesus christ!)

Would I hit an animal that runs out in front of me if there is no other safe evasive option? Yes

I’ve said this before on PH.
When I was a primary school the father of a pupil died after swerving to avoid a cat and drove into oncoming traffic.
I’ve never, ever, forgotten this, to the point of when animals have run out on me my instinct is not to swerve. Slow, avoid, yes, but not to swerve without checking if safe to do so.
And I love cats.
