One single thing that makes you think "knob" Vol 4

M25 last night. I join the motorway, it's very quiet so I remain in lane 1. As per usual, I can see someone sat in lane 3 (this is a 4-lane section) even though there is no traffic.
I set the cruise and proceed as normal lane 3 car is catching me, albeit slowly, and then, when it is just behind me, it matches my speed, and just sits there.
After about 3 miles of this, we finally approach some slower-moving traffic in lanes 1 & 2. I indicate and pull out to overtake them. Nobber then flashes me, like I am too close in front of him/have cut him up, and then speeds up, finally, to overtake me.

Knob!
100% Agree these people have no idea how one should drive on a motorway.I set the cruise and proceed as normal lane 3 car is catching me, albeit slowly, and then, when it is just behind me, it matches my speed, and just sits there.

We have these big electric signs on motorways, why they can't post up "Keep left after overtaking" beats me?
People waiting at roundabouts in the lane(s) to the right of me who creep forwards, over the give way line, and completely block my view, meaning I also have to creep forwards.
People who don't indicate, with a particular place in hell for people who are turning left at roundabouts who don't indicate.
People who approach junctions with completely clear sight lines, no vehicles on the road they're joining, but who still come to a complete stop, spend ages checking, then finally move off.
Sorry, I know that's more than one single thing.

I do this. Maybe only briefly, but I always check for that mythical 'car or motor bike that comes out of nowhere'. Common sense and good practical driving.

A special mention for the driving god on a wet A46 today.
Towing a glider at 85/90 and tail gating vehicles is not a way to keep your licence for long or keep your vehicle in one piece.
You passed me and you had a wobble which you did at least manage to save.
When your reg is FLY and towing a glider you do tend to stand out.
If you crash i hope you dont take any innocent person with you.

On the M5 the other evening I was in lane 1 and approaching someone sat in the middle lane not overtaking anything. An unmarked BMW went past in lane 3 and pulled in front of the middle laner, turned on the message sign in the back window saying 'keep left unless overtaking'. Shocked the middle laner into moving across. Thought this was quite a good idea as it didn't require pulling them over but got the message across. We have these big electric signs on motorways, why they can't post up "Keep left after overtaking" beats me?
Now we just need one every mile or so..

Stopping unexpectedly, for no valid reason, with a car following behind, is likely to end in a rear shunt. And tears, Woody!
The Car in front may have spotted someone at the last moment and stopped, I don’t think a car stopping at a give way line can really be called an unexpected stop. In all honesty i have nearly rear ended someone in this situation, I looked right and could see it was clear and had assumed the car in front had already gone, when I looked ahead they’ve stopped, although I swore at the time and they were a bit daft stopping it was my fault there was nearly a collision as they could have stopped for a good reason. carlove said:

But to add, regardless of 'no other traffic around' I will always stop and check, albeit briefly.

I might have to invest in one of those myself!Bucsky said:

^^^ This ^^^FPN would be in the post if he`d passed a speed camera above posted limit.
When I see this on a Motorway, every night, I wonder if the driver is Pissed or on drugs.
Plod should have had a word at the very least.
Cacophony of fkwittery from the mid-50s woman in a white Vauxhall Mokka earlier.
> Drives into the centre of a traffic light controlled junction, not indicating, and stops for no discernable reason for about ten seconds before deciding to turn right.
> Brakes to a standstill every time she's approaching a parked car and there's any kind of oncoming traffic, even though the road is plenty wide enough to allow her to pass, and even when the oncoming traffic is starting to turn down side roads.
> Drives at 40 in a 30, but only 30 in a 50.
> Approaches a two-lane junction indicating right, but straddles the lane divider for about 300m and then comes to a rest in the middle of both lanes.

Freudian slip by Greater Manchester Police? My bold. (From Daily Telegraph article):
“If you get stopped by the police and have a device that is deemed to be obscuring your view you may be persecuted and could face a £50 fine.”
This has not been their finest hour. I read on another site that the original message said placing the device in centre of screen was illegal, it's sadly isn't but at least marks out a knob to the rest of us, & the Police vehicle used to show what they claimed was the only LEGAL position to driver's right in an RHD vehicle clearly showed suction cup marks in centre of its windscreen!!“If you get stopped by the police and have a device that is deemed to be obscuring your view you may be persecuted and could face a £50 fine.”
