I bet it will make you check extra carefully next time though. I used to ride a motorbike and I still have the habit of not trusting my mirrors and doing a lifesaver check too.

In a normal year I ride 6,000 miles, and as a cyclist I'd suggest that while you should have checked that blind spot, if the cyclist put themself into it (rather than you putting them into it then forgetting you'd done so, if you see what I mean) then the cyclist in question should shoulder an equal portion of the blame (at least) and ought to know better than to put themself into such a vulnerable position.

For instance, passing buses - I wouldn't dream of passing a bus on it's left. If a bus slows ahead of me, I'll be sure to stay behind it, but out to it's right-hand side, in a place where I can look directly at the offside mirror. There I know I will give the driver the best chance of seeing me, so he's not left wondering where I've disappeared to (as might happen if I sit directly behind, on the centre line of the bus). I can also assess whether he's stopped for a queue at the lights, or is picking up or setting down passengers. If I can see a clear, safe opportunity tp pass the bus while it is stopped, I'll take it, otherwise I'll stay back, in plain sight, and await another opportunity to pass it.

There's no guarantee that any one driver is one of the (apparently) small number who actually look at their mirrors, but more cyclists should consider the "if you can't see my mirrors I can't see you" mantra in their riding plan, and always aim to pass traffic on it's offside, not "sneak up" on the nearside, out of the driver's view.
the law wouldn't see it as shared blame, it would be all on the motorist. This is why some motorists get annoyed with cyclists.

The guy driving his Ford Mondeo on the M1 between J30 - J29a earlier today. I was in lane two, overtaking a lorry. I was adhering to the smart motorway reduced limit but the guy behind demonstrated that his lights were working. He flashed them numerous times!

If he wanted to go faster, fine; lane three/four were clear. When I had cleared the truck, I returned to lane one and he accelerated quickly to get past, shaking his head. He then braked at every gantry camera (still in lane two) and then sat at 60mph when we entered the NSL. He then came off at the same exit as me, one car ahead of me.

There's a little old lady in my village who has been moved into a care home. Due to the way these things are at the moment (thanks to everyone who voted Tory for this one) she has had to put her bungalow on the market to pay the care home bills. It's already £20,000 below market value for a "quick sale" six months later some buy to rent scum bum put in an offer £30,000 less than that...

"Because the garden was untidy".

...so I went over last week to pull some weeds, pick up some McFlytipped rubbish, pressure wash the patio; etc, etc.

Today the buy to rent scum bum has retracted any interest in the property because...

"It's no longer a worthwhile investment".

loser

So any something for nothing pile of crap "investor" is a knob.
Some people are simply arses. In 2009, when the crash was in full swing I had my then house for sale at £180k. Some clown viewed, and followed up with an offer of £100k. Presumably with enough offers banded about they'd find someone on the edge of desperation.

Unbeknownst to them I knew one of the Estate Agents. I asked him to inform me if their house ever came up for sale, which it did a few years ago, at £425k. I viewed it (I wasn't present when they viewed mine) and gave an 'offer' to the agent of £250k.

See how you like it you aholes!
You're very obviously in need of mental help.
'a few years later?' The scenario ate you up to such an extent you then put a low offer in on his house??
That must have made you feel so much better and lifted all those years of bitterness from your shoulders..

You don't think travelling thousands of miles to deliver thank you cards to people who already drive supposedly eco-friendly cars is a bit, ummmm, counter-intuitive?

Good one last night.

Driving down the A19, overtaking a stream of cars sitting at 45-50mph in L1. Woman in a Citroen C1 decided that indicating and pulling into L2 in one slick manoeuvre, whilst the front of our car was level to the rear of hers, was a good idea. Obviously a little bit of evasive action was needed and I ended up slowing down without hitting her, but did get quite close to the back of her car as I shaved some speed off.

I continued and passed her as she moved back into L1. Kept an eye on the mirrors and saw her do the same thing to a number of cars.

She then took the same exit as me, drove straight across the roundabout in front of me and went back onto the A19.

I have absolutely no idea.

Saw similar on the way home yesterday, started in the inside lane DC in front of me, as we approach a roundabout she pulls into outside lane and then crosses all three lanes on the round about to end up back in front of me, continues past first and second exit in left hand lane of round about and as we approach the third exit, she indicates right and traverses all three lanes again to end up going back the way she came, all while hunched over the steering wheel staring through the windscreen!!!!!

People that wear sunglasses when not a bit of sun to be seen in the sky I have never understood that one. And the fashionable no socks with jeans/trousers that are about 6 inches too short maybe I'm just getting too old but I've never looked at an ankle and found it that appealing lol

Clearly you didnt live during the 1800s when a bit of ankle was all the rage.

Haha, good one. Nope, sorry to disappoint, it was largely forgotten about, until in passing until the mate who works at the EA gave me the heads up in passing. I then thought now to also have a bit of fun at their expense

They probably were as un-amused at my 'offer', as I was at theirs (wasting half of my day, tidying round and cleaning the house etc, getting myself out the way for an hour or two for the viewing, etc etc.....) so job done IMO.

There can be still quite a lot of UV glare coming through unless the clouds are super-thick and black. Plus where else is it more convenient to keep them until the sun comes out again?

And if you actually have a prescription it can be a PITA to keep swapping them back to your clear ones

Most are probably cocks who think they look cool though.

Except me BTW. I sometimes keep wearing my sunglasses (prescription lens) if I haven't got my other clear specs with me simply because my eyesight is quite poor without corrective lenses and being darker than is ideal is still better than a blurry mess.

Decent polarised ones give the illusion of increasing contrast; mine don't appreciably "dim" at all, just remove glare.

Same here. I either look like a cock or like I'm pissed as I keep walking into things laugh
