biglaugh

A related one as it pertains to someone trying to help, but not a knob (sorry).

There's a guy who lives near me, all the locals know him, he's not the brightest but he is always very happy, friendly and just wants to help everyone. One day I was walking through a local car park and could see him helping a car reverse into a space, when the car suddenly stopped. The car drove forwards and then started backing up again, so he started waving it back again and the car suddenly stopped... again. This repeated a few times until the driver got out and said "Could you get out of the way please? You're getting in the way of my reversing camera!".

Woman with her rear fogs on this morning on the M606. I flashed her to suggest she had her rear fogs on, only for her to give me the finger as I passed her.
Is this whole thing a euphemism?

I don't think so. But I'm sure it must be a double entendre.

3D Number plates
Blacked out number plates
Blacked out front windows
Numberplates in the windscreen
Numberplates that contain BO55

My reaction, tends to be, haha look at that knob!
I suspect most other people are the same, having a laugh at how silly and unimpressive those modifications are. But maybe it is just me.

The thing is though the people who do these thongs don't give a toss about what others think and probably get great pleasure from reading threads like this knowing how many people they upset.

Seems that there was a multi-agency vehicle check thing yesterday on the A41 in Shropshire and found someone with a tyre in this state:

Clicky
Nice job on that tyre.

Edit - tried img tagging the photo - hopefully it works.

Friend of mine is a properly decent technician for a German main dealer.

Was doing a private job outside a block of flats and had a similar conversation with some dhead who hung around telling him all these stories of how he'd fixed his car (re: utterly bodged, broken and glued) without using anyone professional. He offered my friend several bits of advice. Until he eventually buggered off.

They will no doubt go off and tell their equally dim mates that they "helped" this guy working on his car

Disagree. They do it specifically because they DO want others to see it.

Whats more memorable/stands out

Personalised plate "BO55 MAN" or those stupid tinted plates

Or this plate?

(for sale ad from Google)

If you were making progress in your car and the hand wringers didn't like it, which plate would they remember when complaining to the Police via 101

Which of these plates do you think actual career criminals have on their cars?

They probably don't mind as long as it's someone else's.

Black Golf parked at the side of an unlit road completely caped in mud, number plate, tail lights and reflectors smothered. I hope a one headlight Darwinists ploughs into it.

Of course they want others to see, I didn't say otherwise. They also don't give a toss about what anybody thinks and would find this thread highly amusing, especially with the attempt by posters to make up as bad an insult to their personas as possible.

I think somebody whose self-esteem needs to be supported by a number plate would definitely be upset about how they were being .perceived by others.

I very much doubt it. If they were the sensitive, shrinking violet, types who cared what others thought they wouldn't do it in the first place.

The only people who seem to get upset are those who don't do it, ergo many posters on this thread or the number plate thread. These threads would not exist otherwise.

Probably a bit of me and also a Golf R.

Having a bit of fun on the A3 this morning in a Megane Trophy, a bit of accelerating and dropping back with the Golf R doing the same behind me, we were both using 3 lanes properly, indicating properly, there was no tailgating or anything dangerous, there was a bit of going over the limit but being a Saturday morning the A3 was relatively clear.

We both came off at Painshill I kept in the left lane of the sliproad whilst approaching the lights, slowing and dropping in behind whatever car was infront of me, Golf R kept in the right lane, I slowed as the lights changed, Golf R booted it and went through the amber lights at great speed, followed by a grey X5, he too at great speed..................then the blue lights came on!!

Golf R was pulled a few hundred yards along on the left!!

My blue XE has X15 and my initials on the plate....

If people "get" it, great, if not, thats fine too. If they think I'm a knob for it, that's their problem, not mine biggrin

(best comment I've had about it was "Doesn't taking it that high void the warranty?")

'Having a bit of fun'. On a live major highway, playing tag with another vehicle. Mirror and have a good look, spring to mind.

If someone thinks you are a knob, it is not a problem to them. That's just what they think about something you have done or said. scratchchin

Making assumptions and/or jumping to conclusions is even more annoying than the fleets of rented cars blocking up our roads.
