Wow, I'll make sure I'm in my Armani suit before I ask you to drop me to Crouch End... I think most of the young black guys today would rather go with a much cheaper and reliable minicab.

Kilburn and Cricklewood are hardly like The Bronx rolleyes Or do you prefer it's Camden counterpart, West Hampstead? Being a "realist" might make you lose out on a lot of fares from decent people. Not every black guy will pull a knife on you, or run from the cab after claiming to "stop to get money from the cashpoint", especially in this age of Contactless Payments, and Central Locking in the cab...
Unless you are, or have been, a cab driver I'd pipe down if I were you.

It's amazing how many people know soooo much about the cab trade having only experienced it as a customer. rolleyes

The chap in an Audi Q7 that appeared 2 ft behind my wife, myself and some other folk walking through the pedestrianized bit in Wilmslow then park right outside outside Cafe Nero to get his coffee and then drive off.

Not really getting the pedestrianized bit, to be fair he did look a prick of the highest order and was subject to a lot of filthy looks, being Wilmslow nobody said anything.
Not being familiar with the area, I looked it up on Google Maps and to be fair, apart from the massive signs, the gates, change in surface treatment and the fact it's full of people... totally unclear that it's a massively-signed, gated pedestrianised zone.

I think what makes it doubly-knobbish is that I noticed that a few car lengths from where he would have entered the ped-zone, there is a Starbucks with parking outside it.

Standard Audi driver.
Dreadful, over-rated, over-priced car for dreadful, over-rated, (probably) over-valued people.

Literal aholes.

To be fair, you don't need to be a qualified heart surgeon to know that you don't perform a triple bypass using a junior hacksaw and a pack of crazy straws. For what it's worth I have no issue with black cabs or their drivers but equally I don't understand why a double standard exists between them and other people performing what is in essence exactly the same function. From my perspective it's not really that different to arbitrarily deciding TFL bus drivers don't need to pay national insurance anymore but tube and train drivers still do.

True, but even if handed all the correct tools by the nurse, do you think you know enough to have a go at it?

Everything looks easy from the outside and whilst I'm not proclaiming driving a cab is the number one profession of Mensa members, cab drivers know a lot more about their job than customers, including sizing up potential customers and destinations and the likelihood of trouble due to one or a combination of both those things.

Not sure if a knob or an idiot, but the other day I pulled into a parking bay. It held 3 cars, a car was parked in the middle so I pulled in behind it. A car stopped behind me on DYLs, & waited, till the driver pulled out & parked in the front bay, as he did so he shouted something rude at me.
I dont know what I was meant to have done,Im not sure what else I could do or where I could go to when behind a parked & empty car. confused

Yes, I’ve never got that Audi thing, and I don’t have one, the only times I’ve driven an Audi is if I’ve been allocated one at a car rental place at a German Airport.

Nail on head Centurion, unfortunately, having been a Black Cab driver for 30 years until I retired in 2012, I’m often seen on here as Public Enemy # 1, when all I’ve ever done is try to tell the truth about the job and how I saw the right way to do it.
I’d probably never qualify for MENSA, I’m just a reasonably intelligent guy, with little common sense, who needed to earn a few quid when I was made redundant circa 1980, so took on The Knowledge then took people wherever they wanted to go, whenever they wanted to go there.
Sure, there were times when someone would hail me, and my street smarts would say no, and I’d sail on by, but if I was on a rank, I’d take the first job to walk up, anywhere.

Seeing more and more cars with stickers that have the owners Instagram @ on, nearly always a modified Fiesta or M Sport BMW. Are people really seeing the @ and pulling out their phone to follow the owner? I dont like any car stickers really but these are even more daft confused
Mainly useful at car shows / meets - quick way of promoting a build via Instagram, or promoting the main tuner(s) via their social media feeds. It's just the current equivalent of putting a tuners name sticker on the rear screen / side window back in the '90's or later making it a www sticker in the '00's.

So more than zero uses is classed as over use?

Very clever you see.

What do they get charged with? Dangerous driving?
Depends really. Witnessed a van utterly stupidly brake testing a hire van joining the motorway a while back, for no reason, couldn’t stop them at the time but put in a file... case assessors gave them a training course for DWDCA!

I have owned two 'White' Audi's, and both fit in a standard parking space and both had working indicators and mirrors amongst other supposed issues. redcard

that was an attempt at deflection which i can only describe as being on a par with "takes one to know one!"

so i stand by my original comment, you are being childish, and you are now trying to fight your way out of a corner.
