Couldn't agree more. I'm 50 this year loved rallying since about 12 yrs old.

The hero worship of Macrae sticks in my throat a bit. A great driver yes BUT reckless behaviour killed his own child and that wee boy's friend too.

There was a bit in the press this week asking why Andy Murray has a knighthood and Lewis hasn't. scratchchin
Could it be because Andy M lives in Scotland, and Lewis H has upgraded from St Evenage to become resident in Switzerland?

I would love to see LK taken out in his own car by any number of professional race car drivers and shown what a top driver can do compared to us mere mortals.
It'd be a good lesson if everyone got chance to get in with a pro.
I've been in just an E36 M3 with someone who has driven at national (BTCC) and world level (WEC) and it's a real, real eye opener.

Don't start thinking you're a hero, not when you have seen what some proper drivers can actually do.
Who does think they're a hero, once they're past the age when they know it's not going to happen? Comparing yourself to any pro will highlight the gulf - tennis, football, driving a car, chess, golf, snooker or just about anything else. It doesn't make them Gods and it isn't remotely surprising.

The problem with LH, like a lot of people, is that being very good at one thing does not automatically make you good at anything else. In his example, which is quite common, it's the opening of the mouth and letting words come out skill that's a bit lacking. He has huge talent in driving, just like Bono does or did with singing. But both are bellends and should stick to driving and singing respectively if they don't want to be ridiculed.

Knob - celebrity who pontificates outside of their profession. E.g. Emma Thompson.
Yet here we all are, pontificating outside our own professions? Presumably we are all 'knobs'? Does celebrity status preclude having, or voicing any opinion in the same way we lesser mortals do?

I think that those Scandinavian rallyists are far more skilful drivers than the soft F1 bunch. It's a bit like Rugby players compared to footballists.

The dozens of people in the control room at Milton Keynes do 90% of it. New F1 the drivers are essentially ballast.
I'd imagine his 10% is slightly different to yours though.
Given Lance Stroll qualifies 3rd and finished 4th in Hamilton’s car from last year this weekend then I’m not sure how great Hamilton needs to be to win? Also can’t remember many multiple world champions beaten over a season by two different team mates after their first title. He drives well but is a bell end

I would imagine that LH doubling down on being black by campaigning against racism must really get on the tits of anyone who doesn’t like him out of racism.

Or just because he’s a bell end. It’s possible to dislike a black person for reasons other than their colour. The fact you say that says more about you.....

It really is disturbing to see LH being described so negatively by many PH members . Basically, being outspoken, having a strong personality and strong beliefs equates to being bell end. There are a lot of c**ts on this forum.

How often have you met Lewis?

I am pretty sure he is allowed to try to promote issues that matter to him. Given his following on social media, the idea that he shouldn't try to set an example is hard to understand. Starting the Lewis Hamilton foundation, Giving half a million for the Bushfire charities.. Unicef, Gt Ormond Street. Honeypot etc.

I am also confident that posting that a young black man (Who also has a fashion line} dressing differently, shows he is a bell end. says volumes about those claiming it.

Where did I mention his clothes ?

I think the fact he’s so sanctimonious about the environment and had a private jet, Monaco tax arrangements, described himself as coming from the slums (of Stevenage) and his general adopted Americanised person a mark him out as a prize dhead

Absolutely naff all to do with him being black

Well as it's 2020, any criticism of someone who is black is racist any way.
Even if it's nothing to do with race.

bow Truth!

Here's another truth. The only race we mentioned was F1 and the discussion was around the potential knighthood for services to sport when modern F1 cars pretty much radio controlled.

Some people are far too ready to jump on the bandwagon and be offended by literally nothing these days. Grow Up.

Where did I say it was about him being black.

He got rid of his jet because of the environment message so is that a terrible thing, did you get rid of yours?

Monaco tax arrangements are because he lives there which is what many racing drivers do so they are all bell ends or what is special about him? He is in the top 0.1 percent of UK taxpayers despite that.

Here is the sentence after the slum statement..
“Well, not the slums, but to get out of somewhere and do something. We all set our goals very, very high but we did it as a team.”

Obviously all of that outweighs all his achievements, success charity work and campaigning to make someone you don't know a dick head.

You didn't mention his clothes but, until now, had just been in a thread that did in support of saying he's a Knob for trying to persuade other drivers to his point of view.

It is odd just how much vitriol LH attracts. Sure he can be a dick when things aren't going his way, but this criticism could probably be levelled at most of the top drivers in the sport. Alonso, Schumacher, Senna et al, all had their darker sides. Max Verstappen is probably Hamilton's "heir apparent" and he is prone to petulant behaviour and loud mouthing from time to time. But whereas previous British world champs like Mansell, Hill and Button were generally adored by the British sporting public, Hamilton seems to attract as many haters as fans. Only in Britain I think, do sporting greats get treated in this way. We just love to put people on pedestals, only to knock them off again.

Most sportspeople in general seem to get a pass with this in ways that certain others don't.
I mean Kimi Raikkonen is well-liked for his dickishness...

I am quite sure that some of his detractors are that way because of his race. Didn’t offer you the cap, but if you feel it fits that’s your business.

LH will become the greatest F1 driver the world has ever seen, but to a lot whatever he achieves is not enough.
