Was this a time before car windows? Sounds like an uninspired folktale tbh, everyone’s family has one. My older cousin swears by a story that their uncles friend visited Glasgow one weekend. Someone put a Celtic scarf on him and next think you know a Rangers fan purposefully ran him over and killed him because he was wearing that scarf.

sure they did The thing that made me think “knob” yesterday was watching the ParcelFarce driver struggle for nearly an hour to extract his van from the muddy field entrance just outside my house after he decided it would be a good idea to turn round there and got stuck.

The Knob in the white Golf who overtook me at well over the 30mph limit, as I slowed for the people approaching the zebra crossing, who then crossed as I stopped. I caught up to the t
t about a mile up the road and followed him at 20mph 'ish, due to traffic and roadworks, for the next couple of miles, where he turned at a set of lights that gave a right turn priority, and really shot off down the road!
OK the people approaching the crossing where on the left so 'protected' somewhat by my car, but speeding at well over the limit to gain 1 cars length on city streets makes the guy a Knob!
(and just to confirm, I was returning, albeit the long way round, from essential shopping! fridge restocked with Duvel for the next 4-5 days!!
(and bread, milk, etc.!!)

Rising knife crime isn’t really relevant if this story happened decades ago, is it? People don’t expect to get stabbed for sounding their horn because it is a very, very rare occurrence if it does happen. Especially when they apparently sounded the horn for a something so reasonable, unless of course there is more to the story and it’s more about the conversation following that horn?
Might just be me, but if a group of junkies approached my car I probably wouldn’t keep my window all of the way down, even if it was a lovely summers day...

Yep, if someone is irate don't open the window, just ignore until they get bored, or drive around them if you can, a shut window will be bloody hard to smash, a window that's open a smidge can be smashed with some force. I've only had one real road rage incident, an angry lycra clad cyclist, who tried undertaking me on a busy single lane bridge, there was no room and I hit the brakes so he didn't go under my car and then probably tell police I'd overtaken dangerously, I used my horn in annoyance. He slowed to a crawl and gave me the middle finger, I gave a perhaps slightly long toot of the horn. As I passed him I shouted "midlife crisis w
kstain" out the window, well that wasn't appreciated. Later he caught up and dropped his bike in front of the car, and came over, I put the window down and asked him if he was simple, he accused me of trying to knock him off, I told him I did quite the opposite so he didn't get knocked off,
Since then I've let idiots be idiots, just de-escalate a situation if I can.
Not long ago a van driver (middle aged man in a badly modified Caddy
) started chasing me because I shook my head when he turned into the entrance to KFC without indicating. He pulled alongside and opened his window (I opened mine as I was happy he was in his van), tried reasoning but I was the wker because "I just wanted to get a KFC" (apparently my fault he had to chase because I shook my head), so gave a fake apology and told him to enjoy his KFC and he drove off. In these situations it's better to de-escelate not get into a situation where you could be injured or worse. My take home is you never know who you're dealing with, people can flip at a moments notice, or people decide you've wronged them and want a fight, they could have mental health issues. There's every chance they could have a weapon, you don't know who'd driving the car, the likelihood is it's just a regular person, but there's always a small chance it's a psychopath.

People don’t expect to get stabbed for sounding their horn because it is a very, very rare occurrence if it does happen. I Would agree that being stabbed with a screw driver, for sounding a car horn is a bit rare, but that did not stop it from happening, But I am sure the family, in this incident were duly re assured that although this happened to them, it is still quite rare. There is more to this story, but because it involved the R word I left it out.

I got knocked off my bicycle outside KFC by a Fiesta that decided not to indicate or look. The kid driving was so exciting to be picking up his mates and eat a bucket of finger lickin chicken. I just appeared out of nowhere. His words were the classic "I'm sorry mate, I didn't see you." A pillar blind spot excuse. At least I took the wing mirror off and left a decent dent in the bonnet. No different to the heavy fat kid in a school playground.
