Devil's advocate: Does it need to be "Feature Rich"? Or could it be a basic, lightweight disruptor?
scratchchin An Ariel Nomad that can be used as more than just a fairweather toy?

An SUV that is to the Elise what the Nomad is to the Atom, in other words.

Tongue in cheek, but it it's an intriguing idea...

^ Precisely what I was getting at.
Not sure if it'll happen, though.

Kinda depends if you need to sell more than seven of them........

Has there ever been a car that's sold well with a low spec? I can't think of one off the top of my head? Especially for an SUV that is mean't to be a "Lifestyle" vehicle?
Dacia Sandero and Duster. The best selling models are the lowest spec versions.

A bit of Zagato Shooting Brake? Oh no, Oliver Winterbottom designed this shape more than forty years ago.
And, what about Lotus Envalira?

Coming to an outside lane near you soon, being driven indifferently by someone to whom driving is the 3rd or 4th most important thing they're currently doing.

If it makes money for Lotus, so they can make a kick ass Elise/Exige replacement, even new Esprit, then im all for it thumbup
I remember when lotus had introduced the elan concept car in 2010 and that despite being a 7 year old design it reminds me of a huracan.

I suspect a pretty big proportion of Elises have no options specified (mine certainly doesn't), but I'm not sure that's really any more relevant than the Dacia. smile

I doubt that's the market Lotus will be aiming for though.

It'll certainly not be at that price point.
It was just an answer to Max's question smile I agree, an SUV with a premium price tag and bare bones specification isn't likely to be a success. Bare bones spec needs a bare bones price to make it palatable.

I'd love for this to be simple and lightweight, a bigger brother to the Elise, like the relationship between Atom and Nomad. At the moment a Duster appeals to me, mainly as it is simple, the fact it is cheap lets it get away with boring handling, I'd happily pay more for a simple, driver focussed daily driver.
