That's not profit - that's smoke and mirrors. Lotus' finances have always been shaky and became a basket-case once they built a big new factory in Norfolk and didn't produce/sell enough cars to pay for it. It's good to see unit sales picking up bit and I'm sure Geely will want to do something with their new brand - hopefully something more than sticking a badge on the back of some of their cars. The Isuzu Piazza Turbo with its "Handling by Lotus" badge was a previous example, easily forgotten.

It's not really recognised how badly the VX220 deal hit Lotus - for a 'small collaboration' it nearly destroyed the company. They got a shiny new building out of it, but it set them back by at least five years, possibly ten.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
