My son had a 3 litre roadster, lovely engine, er lovely engine, but that ride and interior I could not live with. The only redeeming feature of the coupe is that it is a better all year round car with a lovely engine, and er a lovely engine.
The Coupe had a much better chassis; stiffer shell allowed them to retune it. Ditch runflats and it was a proper fun thing. Not sophisticated in a Cayman sense, but a lot of fun - and it looks great, especially rear 3/4.The Roadster roof felt just like all my hard top car roofs from the inside.
Interior, taste. What specifically didn’t you like?
Ride is hard, but with rft remover it’s tolerable.
It only gets annoying on rough roads then.
But the trade off is I don’t think I ever felt it getting too far out of shape on the road.
Coupe is stiffer etc, but the Roadster is still amply stiff for a road Roadster.
I’m not sure I could ever tell unless you maybe had an M one on track putting serious forces through it.

More practical with the back hatch, and more suited than a convertible to wintry weather, unless you have an expensive hard top. The coupe also is a better looking car.The Roadster roof felt just like all my hard top car roofs from the inside.

As for the interior, well apart from the instrument binnacle what is there apart from a wide swathe of "nothing".
Lovely engine though the 3 litre.

Swathe of nothing? Mine had aluminium trim like this, surrounded by leather and textured plastics. Don't see the problem.

Yes, as you said yourself, your car is "boring as hell" - I don't think mine is , so you might as well caught the bus!
Care to let us know what wonderful car is in your garage. Like so many posters on PH who troll a particular car and the people who speak up for it, largely based on arguments which are flawed (no 1.6 TDI Fiesta is going to outgun an MX-5 - even the original 1.6..).... you do not divulge what cars are in your garage. Fair enough you don't like it but to dismiss it as "pants" is nothing but trolling.Back on topic.... pleased to see an EVO featuring cheaper cars...I enjoyed last month's too...thought the Civic Type R was lucky to beat the Megane.... Just 0.4 secs quicker on track, despite the 36BHP power advantage!!
As for classic cars....don't despair, buy an emerging popular classic..... lets face it our roads are so congested and full of speed cameras a really fast car is an irrelevance. I'm enjoying rattling around in an old Mk1 Ford Ka I've bought for my daughter. floats over the bumps, flies through roundabouts and all it at no more than 45-50MPH!! If a Ka is too slow (and frankly it is on any sort of fast road), just buy an old Puma or a Clio 182. Cheap as chips and more than enough grunt to be fun on a B road.

But then I am a Merc devotee so each to their own
Just finished reading the latest EVO. Aside from yet another tedious 911 victory, its almost my perfect issue really.
Loved the 968 Clubsport feature. This was my favourite Porsche back when it was new, I remember buying all the comparison tests when it was Car of the year in Performance Car and Autocar. Its rarely featured these days as its almost like cars from 25 years ago never existed! Loved the Fiesta ST v Clio comparison...also another favourite of mine, the Toyota GT86 is in it and an Impreza. To be honest, those of us that moan of a lack of real world material cant have asked for much more!
BTW, in the Porsche v Lotus v Ford GT v AMG GT-R feature, I think I've fallen in love with the AMG GT-R. Didn't expect it to beat the Exige 430 around a lap. Love the "Fast and Furious" looks too, especially in that lime green!!

I've never owned a really expensive or iconic car, but I did briefly enjoy a cheap fling with a CLK 430, which cost me all of £1850 to buy and I had an original Impreza turbo which was quick enough for me. The cars I've enjoyed the most however have been relatively slow, light and simple. My Cinquecento Sporting, an MX-5 and our 205 GTI 1.9. None of them fast in today's market.....
People who dismiss interesting bread and butter cars as too slow and boring are usually not proper enthusiasts IMO. The late James Hunt ran around in a an A35 van and he was hardly a slow driver.....

evo is my absolute favourite car magazine, but can anyone explain to me why they release / date their issues 2/3 months in advance?
Does my swede in. I think it's because they went to 13 issues a year and forgot (to start with) to re-label one as 'Summer'...so rapidly started gaining ground.havoc said:
