Response from Subaru;

With the final edition only 150 vehicles were made, I’m afraid to say that all 150 have been allocated/sold,

If you get to your local dealership they would be able to sign you up to a reserve list. This means that if any of the vehicles became available it could give you the chance to get your hands on the vehicle,
Did your order get accepted or have you been unlucky?

I'm not sure why you would think the GF8 (wagon version of the classic GC8 shape) would handle better? The CofG is higher, the roofline is 45mm higher, its 15kg heavier and has more weight is over the rear axle. You lose the rigidity in the shell across the rear suspension turrets too as it has no rear parcel shelf steel structure. The spec is not as high on the more cooking versions too. If you like lift off oversteer then it will give you that a little bit easier, but other than that its a step backwards.

The newage version of the wagon retained the narrower classic versions body width and is 20mm narrower track than the standard WRX saloon.
I assumed it would be a similar scenario as the 205/309 GTI. Thanks for clearing that up though

Same here, I was told mid-to late November. The ship reputedly docks on 17th November, weather permitting, so they must all be en route. Perhaps they built so many of each colour so those who got in early had a choice. I expect the majority will be blue.
I'm not looking forward to a long drive back from Scotland in potentially filthy weather, imaging getting behind a gritter! I'm mulling having it transported in a covered trailer but I'd want to be there for the handover anyway.

I didn't follow up on my interest yet so it's too late for me, although I must admit it's not really the right time to buy a new car. When I sell the 2012 STI I might actually go the other way and buy a Cayman S. We'll still have the Blob for track stuff thumbup

Subaru UK just sold 150 of these in 3days, how many did they sell over the last year? Does it show that there is still a market for these in the UK or was it just down to them being limited edition?

One thing I have never understood is why Subaru use the 2.0L boxer engine in Japan which has supposedly solved all the reliability issues and yet continue to use the 2.5L everywhere else....?

The 2.5 is used to meet the emissions regulations as set in the USA and UK whilst retaining performance. We would all be driving twin scroll 2.0 STi's if the regulations were the same as Japan, that engine even has more torque, despite 500cc less capacity.

I think its a sad day that the Impreza Turbo/STI has gone. Everyone I speak to who owned an Impreza Turbo (usually a classic shape example) eulogises about what a great car it was to own. Above all it had character, something lacking in the modern super efficient VAG type offerings. Lovely burbly sounding engine, it felt faster than it was thanks to a (by modern standards) peaky power delivery and road optimised handling...

I still reckon on a wet day on a typical bumpy British road, an old school Impreza could hang with these modern hot hatches that have replaced it....

My own experiences of the Impreza weren't so positive. I bought a 10 year old classic turbo in 2008 and the bottom end bearing went after only 7 weeks. It left a sour taste, but I'd have another, if the opportunity presented.

I guess the problem then was there was still alot of 2000 Turbos around at the time, and dirt cheap too so obviously alot of them went to the people that just wanted to rag them. These days I don't think that's the case, not as much as it was anyway.

They are going the same way as the Cosworths. A lot have been ragged to death, badly modified and scrapped, leaving the good cars to appreciate and be appreciated.

Of course some Cosworths have somehow managed to avoid the claws of the crusher, E.G:

Seems silly that they only brought in 150 of these 2018 model year cars. Guess they must be kicking themselves for that decision as it seems from reviews this is how this generation car should have been from the start and its back on form from what I can tell.

With all these people getting a taste of decent four wheel drive cars in the Golf R you’d think that quite a few would be up for a more involving drive and Subaru might pick up quite a few more sales but someone in their wise wisdom only orderd 150 🤡

It's driven by fleet emissions regulations coming in soon in Europe. The Subaru range is relatively thirsty so the easiest way to meet the targets in the short term before hybrids and EVs are offered is to stop importing the most thirsty models. The rest of the world get the 3.6 flat 6 as an option in the Outback but we don't for this reason.
