pretty sure the engine is from the Hellcat and not the Demon.
The demon shares the same block as the hellcat but has a much bigger supercharger and other internals to boost the power.Dodgey_Rog said:
I’m on my 4th Jeep GC, currently on my second Limited version, they’re great! Looked at the SRT8 as I was cruising to work one morning at around 85mph, when an SRT8 appeared out of nowhere and blew my doors off, sounded great at full chat. The problem with versions like the SRT8 and Trackhawk, is you’re getting into Range Rover Sport money, and now with the Alfa Stelvio Quadrifoglio, you got some tough choices. Give or take a few teething problems with the newer versions of the GC’s, they’re pretty solid, handle well and are lively to drive.
I’m not sure if the engines are different versions in the states vs the UK, I’ll check them out when I’m back for Christmas.
Mean looking machine though......
If I'm looking at a petrol RRS you'd be looking at an SVR which is around 100k (a Trackhawk would be roughly 75-85k landed) in the States the difference is huge & you're still 150bhp short.I’m not sure if the engines are different versions in the states vs the UK, I’ll check them out when I’m back for Christmas.
Mean looking machine though......
I'd take the Trackhawk every time.

Also, any SRT8 Jeeps over 2 years old are a bag of bolts - this will be no exception.

How do you get a figure 10k apart? Any research or just back of a fag packet?

No idea on UK pricing but the difference between the SVR and Trackhawk is $100,000 here in Aus.Also, any SRT8 Jeeps over 2 years old are a bag of bolts - this will be no exception.
Regarding your other comment, what a load of rubbish. I’ll be sure to use the 5 year warranty once it’s a bag of bolts!
I remain utterly mystified as to the point of this sort of car. Take one reasonably competent 4x4, remove all of the hardware that actually gives it a reason to exist (the locking diffs, low range box, tyres and suspension articulation), fit an absurd engine and you end up with a car that is good at only one thing (drag racing) and frankly the engine is wasted at that, imagine what it could do in a regular car with AWD.

Exchange rate what state you buy it in & of course the final piece of the puzzle is dependent on how well you haggle Also, any SRT8 Jeeps over 2 years old are a bag of bolts - this will be no exception.
These are pretty well built too so where you get the bag of bolts comment from I don't know.
Any research?
I just priced up the TrackHawk with a few options you'd expect on a car of that ilk, Sunroof, Premium Sound, and it comes out to $ 96,080 plus tax.
A similar spec'd SRT8 version, comes in around $ 77,875 plus tax.
I just spec'd up the New Range Rover Velar, a lot is standard, its also a pretty car, that comes in at $ 90,190 plus tax.
So you have some serious options in that price range. The only issues I've had with my GC, which I bought new in March this year, are the usual recalls for whatever, faulty EGR valve and routine oil changes, they're pretty bullet proof. But I think if i was dropping that kind of cash on a performance SUV, I'd seriously consider the Velar, its a pretty car.....

Velar isn't the Cherokee's competitor it's the Range Rover Sport SVR which I'm guessing is massively more expensive,
Also doesn't the Velar only come in V6 Supercharged form which means around half the horsepower of the Trackhawk, so you're hardly comparing apples with apples because for me the Velar isn't a performance SUV, when you're talking about performance full size SUV's 500bhp is the minimum 370bhp doesn't cut the mustard.

I am pondering at the moment the SRT8 or a ML63... I have been a bit worried about the moose test of the Grand Cherokee ... I wonder if that applies to the SRT8...
They fixed that at facelift I believe - so late 13 / 14 onwards (I think). Basically when the boot changed looks - it lost the rear horizontal strip between the rear lights. It now matches all the European competitors in that department. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
