Fastest I've ever been in a car before was in one of these. Blew my mind when I was about 18 as a passenger. Never wanted one though, they were absolutely massive.

I'd rather buy a 300ZX TT over the GTO, they're similar money but the Nissan is the better car.

There's a nice sounding red one of these knocking about in st albans area, seen it a few times now, keep meaning to catch the owner to talk about it, as i've heard they can be a bit dubious reliability-wise.

I rather like the looks, very 90s, and have a decent amount of presence.

I've seen some GTO's up for sale for around 3k. They probably weren't the best examples out there but nothing horrific, by any means. I'd much rather have one over an FTO. They look great IMO and i can imagine that they go pretty well, too.

I'd actually much prefer a 300ZX, all things considered, but the going rate for one of those is a fair bit more pricey
300zx. Wow where have they all gone? And why is there never any articles on them?

300ZX's are around the same price as the GTO.

I never understood what went wrong with these cars in terms of appreciation/value.

The NSX has gone through the roof and everyone seems to love them. The Supra has always been an icon. The Nissan 300zx has its own following and yet the Mitsubishi seems to be lavishing in the dregs of ebays bargain bin.

I always thought they looked absolutely lovely, especially in red and given the rarity I'm really surprised they haven't shot up in value in recent years, just like everything else has from the 90's.

This looks fab!!

I was a big fan of these the 300ZX and the Supra, at the time Jap imports offered something completely different at a reasonable price. I opted for an RX7, Pajero Evo and an Isuzu Vehi-Cross to name a few. I very nearly bought an official UK model 3000 GT as it was called at the time but the price always seemed high to me. My wife ran an FTO (one of the very first to come into this country as an import) and I can remember taking it to the guy who did our MOT's who was a real car nut and he had never seen one before and was very impressed with the quality of its construction and components.

Great to drive, real comfy Long distance cruisers and very secure handling. Far more agile than its 1800 kg would suggest but in the earlier phase 1 and 2 models the 4 wheel steering was very trick (and opposite to all others system from manufacturers). Latter cars do look better but are much lower spec in terms of tech due to cost cutting measures. Electronics are fine Japanese and withstand hot and cold humid weather out there. Weaknesses are the gearbox for EU models which have more power. Getrag slimed stuff, the 6 speed in phase 3 cars is worse. Engine is tough as old boots as from Pajero racing cars and VR4 system is well proven. Interior wears well of a little bland. Just needs good TLC overall and for the money a bit of a bargain.

These used to be £3-4k for a 3000GT or GTO Twin Turbo, and buttons for a regular GTO. Since when did they become £8k? I don't think they have and the seller is seriously trying his luck.

You have to look at the facts regarding value; it's an almost 20yr old, mass produced Japanese car with 145k on the clock. Also the seller has WRITTEN MOST OF THE ADVERT IN CAPITALS which knocks 20% off immediately.

I should add that i actually have always been a fan of them as my father had one ten years ago. Incredibly reliable and I thought it looked the business in black and had real road presence as it's wide and low.

The 3000gt (or the GTO in the Japanese market) is one incredible machine! This later Model puts out 320BHP (not 286bhp as stated - earlier models had that amount of power).

For me, this car has everything. Supercar looks and performance to match. As a kid This was one of my favourite cars, that feeling still remains today!

Nice to see the same old misinformed comments made by the usual office desk PCP jockeys plaguing PH.

The 3000GT/GTO Twin Turbos are becoming increasingly rare that in a few years they end up with people who have the money, time and understanding for these specialist cars. These will be the only ones left on our roads that are actually very fast, capable and no less reliable than something predictable like a 100k mile E46 M3.
