It would be useful if VW started naming these after the monthly PCP payments, e.g. Golf 325 R for £325 per month?
Hahahahahahaha, see what you’ve done there, very good, hilarious in fact. Give yourself a pat on the back.

You are dead right!!! What does it all really matter! People getting so worked up about something that they are not forced to pay for. You would swear it was a tax increase or something!

Any chance for PH members to get annoyed about VW and they'll all leap on the bandwagon....

Never mind the performance pack. That R32 looks pretty tidy.

Even comes with a Nokia phone holder!

I've never understood the cynicism directed towards the Golf R in particular regarding lease deals etc. If it allows more people access to what they want that can't be a bad thing can it? It's not as if we're all being forced to have one for crissakes.

rolleyes

Because all you Type R /RS owners buy your cars for cash I suppose?

For my £36,000 golf estate I pay the princely sum of £159+vat per month for 2 years. £2,000 deposit. It’s a steal.
Jeez that's peanuts. may I ask who with/mileage?

I still don't understand why we don't get a manual choice for the R estate.

For what reason are VW not allowing this option for manual hatch owners ? To push DSG sales maybe ?
I'd also be interested to know why you can't tow in them either!

Because VW never submitted or tested them for towing homologation. It's not illegal to fit them with a towbar, so you could have one for bike rack purposes for example, you'd just be in bother if you got caught dragging a trailer or caravan.

The snobbery aroun PCP, Leasing, HP solutions is so silly. There are a lot of old farts on here who feel the only way if getting into a car is to walk into a showroom with an envelope or bag of scrubber notes and slap it down on the table, manly like.

I have to agree with you on that. The exhaust makes a ridiculous farting type sound.
Agreed, I'm driving one now and am embarrassed about that stupid exhaust note, although you only hear it when making good progress and then you are likely to be away from most people.

Didn't notice that.

I'd run a mile. Not worth the aggro when it comes time to sell it on.

Let’s face it though, people complain that it doesn’t make enough noise, people complain it makes too much noise. Can’t win.

Personally love the way mine is loosening up and popping on the overrun or on downshifts.

maybe motorhub have advertised here or PH are doing this to deliberately annoy us?
can't see any legit reasons why they're plugging one of the worst dealers in the country

Is the Akrapovic exhaust switchable on/off? I think these types of exhausts are the best all-round solution. As enthusiastic petrol/pistonheads surely the noise that we get to hear from our cars is important to us? Of course, it's better if it's not manufactured as such, but isn't that what manufacturers do anyway with their exhaust systems? Ti Akrapovic exhausts are actually a thing of beauty, where one can admire things like the welding, the reduction in weight and the appearance of the thing. £3k is a lot of money but it's an option I would be very tempted to tick were I to buy one.

As a Scirocco R driver, this PP equipped Golf R is right on my radar. I think it looks great and will go great. I've always thought the Golf's are the best real world cars on sale.

Didn't realise that the Golf R exhausts were quite so obviously just trim additions
