2012 Skoda Superb

It's done 30k miles in 3 years at 44.23 MPG - I haven't factored that cost in, perhaps I should....

Including depreciation, servicing, MOT, tax, insurance, repairs - all in - £181.29/month. That includes the latest MOT and upcoming year's insurance/tax.

Just need to wait until the kids no longer need the WORLD'S BIGGEST DOUBLE BUGGY and then I can get rid for something a little more interesting.

Things get better, eventually. Although my son ended being 6ft4 so that also takes a bit of space...

Yeah to be fair the last two services have been pretty bad as I needed to replace a full set of brakes, headlights and suspension - (also a new set of premium tyres).

I should also add that I live in a nice part of London and use a local German specialist garage - just opposite the Joe Macari showroom.

2007 cooper s with aftermarket exhaust:
Insurance - £55
Fuel - £120
MOT/service spread over each month - £30

Little under £2500 each year for a car with a 0-60 < 7 seconds and 65k miles in the clock. I think that's alright all in all.

What about depreciation? About another £3-400 annually?

Suppose yeah. Another few years and it'll probably not depreciate any further providing the bodywork stays in good condition.

You were spending 35% of your salary on your car!!!

Yeah, I have an E46 330 touring at the moment which I picked up on eBay for £1800 and I reckon it's costing around £300 / month including petrol

I coud have a brand new electric car on a lease for not much more!

That is amazing and quite impressivesmile

I do get my cars dealer serviced and keep a file of service records/repairs. That is it. When I get sell a car the file goes with it. Only reason I keep the service records if for a prospective buyer who want the car's history. I have had 16 new cars or so in the same period and not a clue about the cost. Admittedly I have no idea about housing costs, food expenditures, utilities or the like either.

Of course I know overall income and cashflow so have a good point-in-time sense of things, but I never get into the detail. A broad view is good enough.

I’d love to know what miscellaneous items you spent a fiver on in 25 years. A magic tree air freshener every 5 years? smile

Currently we are running a 2005 petrol shed and a 2019 Tesla model 3. They cost about the same to run, 470 a month, by my sums. The shed is mostly fuel, parts and labour keeping it on the the road. Depreciation is zero. The Tesla has next to zero fuel or maintenance costs so far. Depreciation is about 300 quid a month optimistically. (ask me again in 3 years!) Then tax and insurance and I'm assuming 0 BIK for now.
Interesting. What deal do you have on the Tesla?

I was looking at PCP on model 3. 25k miles a year got quoted £620 a month with £620 down over 3 years. As I spend near enough £500 on fuel I have been tempted.

Which Model 3 did you get and what do you think the depreciation will be in 3 years? £300 a month seems like around 30% assuming you got top spec?

I put £250 a month away which runs all the TVR costs apart from fuel, which obviously varies.
The two other cars are around £2500 for fuel, £600 for tyres, around £400 for servicing and a bit for sundries...
