Impressive for a 2 tonne estate albeit a close lap time to a Honda Civic and similar to a VW Golf.

See above comments, this one is a journo with a car on (very good but still just) street tyres.
My ST Cupra, the previous record holder would probably be at least 25s slower on street tyres*, still ok considering it at the time was a mere 280hp. And it costs a fourth of this one...

Impressive, but only 5secs quicker than the £60k Alfa SUV....
I'm no racing driver but 5 seconds is quite a bit, as far as i'm aware, in terms of lap times. Even more-so when it comes to the Nurburgring.

Less so, considering the length of the lap.

5 seconds over a 1:30 lap is ALOT, over a 7:45 lap, it's not alot.

It's about 1%. Not much really. The top 10 on an F1 grid are usually more spread out.

Fair enough. Putting it that way, 30k difference for 5 seconds does sound silly. However, buying a car based on it's Nurburgring lap time potential is even sillier.

I'd still much rather have one of these over any SUV, regardless of it's speed/capabilities.

Very very true.

I'd rather have the saloon wink

We should celebrate that choosing practicality doesn't destroy driving dynamics though!

Same here but i do love the idea of fast wagons.

Definitely. Practicality doesn't have to translate into boring!
