I've got one of these, and they are so much fun ! Yes it's no M5, and yes you'll know the petrol stations employees names by heart, but it'll be the motorway cruiser one day and making you buy a clean pair of underpants the next. Gets lots of attention because of how rare it is, and it does look awesome in the company car park.
Won't keep it forever, but I'll certainly have fun whilst I do. Expect to be labelled to a drug dealer whilst you own one.

Kudos to you for buying something different, always quite liked these.

I seriously contemplated buying that exact car, but bad experiences with a less-than-reliable Dodge Journey nagged the back of my mind, and the somewhat lo-rent interior sealed it.

At the risk of being crude, I'd rather fk myself with a frozen turd than part with that much money for such a gash car.

Yes the engine is a novelty, but they are pretty awful to drive in standard form and the SRT-8 is no better than "a bit crap". As a previous poster said you could pick up an E500 for the same money, or a 550i, or thirty eight MG-Fs. Any would be a better use of that money.

You probably could, but not any of those with only 6,800 miles on them for that money so you are kind of comparing burgers with asparagus. laugh

I love these - now I just need to convince myself I actually need one!

Drive one. Nothing will convince you that you don't need one (at £19k) quicker. £8k for a laugh, maybe.

In any case I'd rather have a 550i or E500 with 60k on the clock than one of these brand new delivered to my door. This belongs in the seriously overpriced thread along with the 7 year old low mileage Volvo S80 V8 for £17k.

These are absolutely gigantic up front and, if you can stomach the Poundland interior, are wonderful places to be.

I'd have one in a heartbeat if I could afford to run it.
how can it be a wonderful place to be when its awful inside?
Oops yes, slight contradiction there! My memory is of fantastic leather seats, ridiculous amounts of space and a nice steering wheel, but crappy plastics and weird 1980s bright blue odometer numbers.

Almost bought one, sticking point was it wouldn't fit in the garage. These are absolutely huge. Also, absolutely hilarious when you nail it in a straight line. They do make a lovely noise as well.

A lot of car for the money when you look at ones with slightly more mileage and very rare too.

You could buy my E500 for that. Pretty much as large and rapid, and rather more discrete and refined as well.
I sold my 08 CLS 500 for 5 grand, ok slightly down on power compared to this (388 vs 425) and a 100 k more but cant get my head round this being worth four times as much. both W211 E Class based, I would just get an E55 Estate for 10 grand with a slush fund for mods and repairs. Spend the thick end of 20k on this, keep it for a year and then see how much you can get for it.....

These to me just seem to have an iffy image, noth the badge, doesnt really bother me, but mainly due to the hen night limos and vainglorious types that badge them as "Baby Bentleys", it seems to be a Chrysler thing, I dont mind Crossfires but couldnt buy one and cant quite put my finger on why, and also PT Cruisers, so many seem to end up with chrome tat all over them Chryslers seem to be a magnet for oddballs.

i think these are awesome, the 5.7 is a bargain too, really wanted one a couple of months back but couldn't find one close enough in time. ended up with an E350 estate, it's just not the same!

"A typically American approach to the fast wagon formula"

So it has a huge engine, ridiculous exterior, cheap interior and doesn't handle at all but can pin your eyeballs to the back of your head if you floor it in a straight line. That sums it up?

Also, you can get a E63 for around that money. Yes, I know it will have much higher mileage.

Unfortunately that interior is terrible.
It's the same as the Jeep GC from the same period (which i had for a very short time), very similar to the thin plastic that makes up your cheap keyboard and mouse.
They sound great though.

A tyre dealer by me had the saloon version of this. He re-badged it as a Bentley. Sad but true.

I like it, it's a cool and a different choice. That said for £19k there are other V8s which I'd prefer even with more miles on. In fact I did by going for a CLS63 which is quicker and has a nicer interior.

If that was sub £15k it'd be a tougher one to argue.

I'd love to waft around in one of those! That engine is pure muscle-car porn. However, at the other end of the scale, you could buy and run a very cheap LS400 for a whole lot less. It'll be subjectively more boring/tame/ordinary and definitely slower/older/smaller, for sure. I'm just not sure i'd really care.

Despite popular belief to the contrary, the 300C was never based on the Mercedes-Benz E Class. Or on any other car. The chassis was engineered and the body was designed entirely by Chrysler -- in house and using what, at the time, was an advanced computer system.

It was decided to enhance components of the 300C and to lay the groundwork for marketing claims that Chrysler was being enhanced via the acquisition by Daimler AG. Program costs of the 300C would also be reduced. The borrowed components included the steering column, suspension elements, seat frames, and the transmission. These components came from more than one Mercedes-Benz program.

Ownership by Daimler was short-lived, and the 300C was re-engineered and relaunched by Chrysler from 2011. Little or nothing of Mercedes-Benz components was used.

6.1 litres,

Just 425 bhp from all that displacement. Plus a chassis that only delivers a 5 second sprint from that 425bhp.

The market is used to better numbers.

Still, for what is pocket change to purchase, I guess it's something of a bargain nevertheless.
Does that matter? How often does a person sprint from 0 - 60? A big V8 is about the mid range torque, relaxed progress, and lovely soundtrack. A car with this engine should be celebrated while they're still allowed!

Agreed. We could all be driving round in 4 pot bangers. How boring would life be then?

Oh, and although 0-60 means nowt, is 5 seconds not still regarded as quick enough?
