RE: Kia Stinger GT-S vs. BMW 440i Coupe
Discussion
That extra VAT makes the Stinger GT outpriced. Where I live, it sells fully loaded at a price about 10% less than a Golf R and 20% less than even a bmw 330i sport, makes it a huge bargain.
They say nobody is going to buy it but I did, and originally planned for delivery early March but delayed now. Maybe it is more popular than they expected

I also really like the look of these, enough that I took a trip to the nearest (but not-so-local) dealer for a look see - and to have an initial chat about it potentially replacing my 440i Cabrio.
It wasn't a particularly satisfying experience. We looked over a car outside and then another on the inside of the showroom - but were completely ignored, even though we were the only non-employees inside. I tried to interrupt a conversation between three of them, but got told 'I'll be with you in a minute'. Of course, we got bored before the salesman deigned to talk to us, and left. It was Harlow though, which may explain that.
I thought the car looked great from an exterior perspective, but thought the interior let it down - it looked good, but quality was somewhat lacking with much brittle/flimsy in evidence - the Victoria Plumb of auto interiors, if you will. It certainly didn't feel like a £40K car in that respect.
Of course I didn't get to drive it, and would still like to as that may may alter the balance again - but I'll have to go even further to a dealer, as I'm not going back there.

Just put a deposit on a Kia GTS in black. Something very different from the ubiquitous German cars.
Nice car - different, fresh and a thumbs up to Kia for trying it.
Embrace it if you are a petrol head. Or feel free to find faults if you are badge snob
You don't have to be a badge snob to find faults with something, FYI. Just out of curiosity, what sort of prices/spec have you gone for? I know one of the reasons why people didn't get on with this was the pricing, from those who have driven both have said the 440i is better, and yet when it came to actually paying your monthly payments there wasn't a great deal in it, meaning you'd question why you'd opt for the Kia.Nice car - different, fresh and a thumbs up to Kia for trying it.

The article above implies they both have their strengths and weaknesses. However I don't think it will come as a surprise to anyone that even if the badge wasn't an issue, the BMW's superior interior and CO2 figures will sell more cars in the UK than the Kia's superior chassis calibration.
