I had to spend a LOT of time in one of these in my old job. We had one in to benchmark for a client and my boss thought it was hilarious to give the project of evaluating a tiny little convertible car to the tallest, biggest bloke in the team...

Awful thing it was, crap gearshift, gutless, bouncy ride, buckets of understeer and somehow it felt top heavy and generally ponderous for such a small and light car. Massively disappointing compared to a Renaultsport Clio of the same era.

The only thing positive I could say about it was that it had a big boot and surprisingly I actually could fit into it in reasonable comfort.

That and we abused the thing for months, repeated full bore standing start performance, limit handling around the test track for half an hour at a time, the thing just refused to die.

I kid you not the only one of these I have seen on the road is driven by a guy who is mid 20’s perma tanned ,muscle head gym goer, tattoos and one of them stupid hair cuts were it’s shaved on the sides and slicked back on the top. He’s always in a three piece suit swaggering around on his phone thinking he’s a proper ladies man. I always see him on my lunch break out and about I had to do a double take when I seen him speeding off in it. I’m sure he thinks he looks really cool but it’s such an embarrassing looking car

The one and only one that I sold was bought by a guy, shaved head, chunky, tall, stubble, looked like a builder, he bought a white one and he absolutely loved it.

I sense I'm not in the majority here but I really like slightly silly cars like this. I love the stubby 'noddy-car' proportions and I think its a far more elegant solution with the superamerica style roof on such a small car compared to dreadful folding metal CC jobs. If they had sold these here in Australia I would definitely check one out as a used buy.
You may not be in the majority but you are right.

It's quite a cool car and a considered purchase rather than just another "me too" car.

Its dynamics may be poor but overall it is a locely looking package.

I'm going to regret this but I used to own one like this..
It was my first own official car that I bought and I got it after a 'difficult' time.. and I needed something that was fun.

I had the 1.2 TCe Exception so it was basically full option.

However I starting going down the modding road with this car. So I ended up on the Twingo133.net forums as it shared alot from those nippy gokarts and I've met some really cool people this way. Went to the UK several times a year, met some people on the Nurburgring (yotah his notorious Twingo 133 or actually should I say Twingo 200).

I don't exactly remember the list of things I did to it (I sold it almost 3 years ago).
- Twingo RS Weitec coilovers
- 172 injectors
- Forge recirculating dumpvalve
- Skytune backcat
- Factory cat removed and racecat installed by Ktech Racing in the UK (I'm from Belgium so yes I drove it all the way to them).
- Stage 2 kevlar reinforced clutch
- Ktech intercooler
- remapped at Ktech
- BMC panel airfilter
- Braided brake lines
- Carbon side mirrors covers etc..
- Seriously upgraded sound installation

In the end it was faster than a Twingo RS (more horsepower and alot more torque).

It was a funky looking car but it turned a smile on my face when the exhaust popped/crackled, you'd hear the forge recirculating dumpvalve and you could throw it in a corner and it handled it like a go-kart.. not that I want to endorse driving irresponsible on the public road but the faces you got when I overtook bikes through corners was worth gold.

Good for you mate. I'd rather have something like that than a white leased A3 that the sheep buy.

It's an awkwardly proportioned thing, but what small hatchback derived drop-top isn't? At least it's a bit different. Would I buy one? No of course not... but amongst all the cars I have no wish to own, this one has the saving grace that I'm at least glad it exists.

Much more interesting than an Mx5 that you see 30 of every day.
I can't agree with that. Just because it's different and less common, doesn't instantly make it more interesting.

The MX-5 is a lightweight, RWD, convertible sports-car. Why you'd pick one of these over the Mazda is lost on me.
Exactly. Why would you buy a Wind, unless you enjoy being ridiculed or have a look-at-me mentality. Or both.

There is something inherently cool about modifying an otherwise unloved car. That Wind is something I'd love to drive about in.

Fair play for modding the car you want to drive, but it's a big hurl from me.

The same engine mods to a Twingo GT would make a significantly lighter (almost 200kg!), faster car that also looked pretty good and had back seats.
