RE: ?100K Escort RS2000!

I like that.
When I was 16 a friends dad had a 1600GT in the same colour, complete with stripes etc. I think it was a 2 door though? I remember my friend reversed it into the house when his parents were away and he was bricking it about their return. They much be pretty rare nowadays?

Yes, the Mk1 was a bit more of a special, with a bulge on the bonnet, different seats(I think?) but it was built using the the square headlamp front end, and the horrible old ‘bar’ (thermometer) style speedo.
The one I linked earlier is a Mk2.
This is the earlier car...

Which would we go for?

Back in the late 80's a friend of mine had a mint mk1 RS2000 with a genuine 167 bhp , it was on twin 48's, steel crank, forged pistons, full spec race head etc etc. I think it revved close to 8k, and got there real fast. I'd have that car over any hot Focus/Megane/Civic today.
That's how I feel about my old E30. I could buy myself a newish 3 or 4 series but the lightness of the E30, 230'ish bhp and a lower final drive in the LSD make for a pretty addictive mix. It might not be ideal for motorway cruising but around the Cornish lanes it's just so much fun and there's just nothing modern I would swap for. Something older, like a track prepared 2002, 3.0 CSi or 635i though, I might consider it. I'd still say no, but at least I'd consider it. Legacywr said:
Something that’s caught my eye... actually I’ve always loved them, and is comparable to the Escort....

Lovely. Forget the common or garden RS2000, these are as special as the Twin Cam and they're so undervalued compared to Ford stuff.http://www.angliacarauctions.co.uk/en/classic-auct...

I always lusted after a GP white 944. I nearly bought one about 9 years ago and often regret passing on it. Funnily enough I saw one near Truro the other day and they're still a great looking car. I had a 924, which I really liked. I'd love an early 4 speed one lowered on Fuchs.
My 944 is Alpine White. I wouldn't mind a 924 Carrera GT, they're getting expensive now though.Legacywr said:
It’s been sat there 2 years
Obviously, it’s Harris built. 2.1, gas flowed head, stage 1 cam, twin 45’s, basically everything except a steel crank.
It needs to go in the car, as I won’t to renovate the room!

Remember some of their cars down the Pod - so quick!
I had an HT Racing 2.1 running twin 48's never managed to get it into the car as I sold it but the engine went in my mates Starlet & it was a weapon.
I always remember the needle between guys that had Harris lumps & those that had HT ones it was always good fun but bragging rights were up for the taking when at Pod or at a dyno shoot out.

Vulcan and HT used to do a lot of the work for HarrisI always remember the needle between guys that had Harris lumps & those that had HT ones it was always good fun but bragging rights were up for the taking when at Pod or at a dyno shoot out.
They're brilliant engine builders without the Harris prices
