If this was a proper car with a proper engine making a proper noise I would be very excited and impressed...
leaves me a bit emotionless. I want to embrace the future ,I really do ..... but I can’t .
To get me excited and be all geeky futuristic , make me a jet pack I can buy for £100 ... now that will be cool.

Well it doesn't leave me cold. That sort of acceleration is mind boggling and I like the quiet (slightly bland) styling. I can't bear the creased, venty fussicking of the vast majority of modern high performance cars. I hope to God they don't actually try to give it that sort of range though, I presume it would then weigh 2.5 tonnes.

Me neither. It will take quite a while to tire of that kind of acceleration. (ps the range is a side effect of the performance; using the tesla battery architecture big performance=big battery)

Not quite. It's the motor. It could quite happily produce that power with a 100kWh battery (same voltage and current).

I agree.

Personally I actually think the lack of sound is a positive thing. I would feel like a complete tool driving around in many modern high performance cars due to their completely over the top sound they make and I really miss the more subdued sounds that many high performance cars had in the '60s and '70s. I think it is really refreshing to see different approach.

Now if only electric Harleys could become popular ...

Obviously the motor needs to be big enough, that's relatively simple. But you can't draw 1000kW from their 100kWh battery, more like 450kW (as they manage with the S in ludicrous mode). You need a bigger, or 2, (tesla) battery to draw that much power, they can only discharge at a certain rate without overheating. You want twice the power you need twice the battery.

I thought the main reason for the difference in acceleration between the 80D/90D/100D was that the bigger battery could deliver more power?

Yes, I would say the E-type is quite silent compared to many modern performance cars. Have you heard cars like the F-type, the Granturismo and so on drive by? And moreover what sound the E-type make is much smoother and pleasant to my ears. There isn't the same kind of huge howl and load bangs that many modern performance cars do.

People find enjoyment in different things. Some like talking about electric cars while others prefer dedicating their time to talking about people talking about electric cars. To each his own.
