I think you need to get away from your keyboard and go outside sometimes. You will find only pistonheads like Porsches. Most people do not look twice at a 911 let alone a boxster.
I see. Do they look at you as you drive past in your much more expensive cars? What a wonderful feeling that must give you! Well done.jakesmith said:

Heard a 718 the other day it sounded absolutely horrid. Huge shame.
I think I’m in the minority, I really don’t think they sound that bad with the sports exhaust. They do need some unequal length manifolds though. JMF894 said:
TBF they probably don't sound at all bad per say, but in the context of a Porsche a 4 cylinder is simply not de rigeur.
Apart from the first car they ever made, the 356, and then the 912, 914, 924, 944 and the 968 of course. In fact, they've made more models that don't have 6 cylinders than do

Unfortunately like Audi, Porsche have been a victim of their own success. They sell so many more these days that they have lost their rarity so don’t appear so special.
In fact most of the premium brands are now mainstream.
Part of the attraction of car ownership for some of us enthusiasts is to have something a bit different.

Does it really matter what the engine is?
There is now an entire generation who will never know what's it's like to drive a real sports car & think Porsche make SUV's & odd looking four door saloons. For them the ability to play with an on-board computer & prattle to their friends hands-free is the priority, after all they will spend most of their time in a traffic jam & performance or noise of no consequence or relevance.
Only a few oldies live in the past remembering Porsche as the sports car maker it once was & will never be again.

I had a look at one of those new fangled 911 things the other day and the chap had- and I'm not making this up- what looked like a wireless in there and knock me down if i didn't also see controls for some sort of a heater.
I mean where's the fun in a good old Boxing day blast in the countryside if u get out of the car and your fruits haven't frozen to the seat?
They'll never understand what real motorings all about...
