It's back to that time of year again...

Last year, I decided paying over £70 for Sky was getting ridiculous.

I managed to get a timely offer on SkyQ where I got free installation, and a multiroom setup for £44/mth for the entertainment channels, i.e. no movies or sport.

I just checked, and this is going up to £52.52 in December and £56 in January.

Mrs Chimp wanted to add movies so that would take us to £66/mth from January. We also have Netflix at £10 so the price is creeping up again.

Has anyone had any luck getting a decent discount? I phoned up to speak to their "Value Team" as a "VIP member" and was only offered £6/mth discount so hardly worth it.

I am locked into a broadband deal with Plusnet so I can't look to do a deal with broadband unfortunately.

Cancelled via internet, they then offered a 50% discount via the internet a week or two later.

I was paying £45 / mth for sky hd then got sky q for same price, couple months later bill went up to £75 as my discount had ended so phoned them up and told them I cant afford it and was happy with the £45 so they just discounted it again for 18mths.
Btw that’s for everything except sports.

I was in the same boat. Called up and they offered no discount so cancelled.

“Value team” did nothing for us but when we went through to retention’s they were slightly keener to help.

Sounds like you are on a similar package to us, ours was going up to £66 for box sets, multiroom & cinema. I fixed in for another 18 months at £48.

The trick is you have to actually cancel. Give it a week or so and they'll call back.

We've just renewed our sky q, standard TV package with broadband and presumably phone for £44 ish I think.

Down from £70 odd, although that did include an Xbox at that price.

I've cancelled today. Given the modern option, I won't be tempted back.

I just received, unsolicited, an offer to extend my current "special offer" deal for another 12 months. I pay £47 for sky Q + mulitroom everything (sports, movies etc). I was thinking i'd have to cancel etc but didnt. Weird but am happy!

My £35 a month offer is coming to an end, considering my options.

Does Badger still get on here ? I seem to remember him sorting out deals for folk last year

nice email popped into the mailbox today, they are upping my package again, only £2.00 a month, but it all mounts up, and it's cleary to fund their "football habit"

Prices paid for latest football auctions has gone down!

Call and threaten to cancel, will probably drop it. I got one from O2 yesterday, they are all at it with new Financial Year coming up,

"Inflation innit".
