agreed!...Aston had an open goal when it comes to front end design....
fluffed it IMO.
This is my instinct too but must wait for Bristol on Thursday and view it from my 6 foot not the 2 foot 'up the nose' camera angle. And please Bristol put a NUMBER PLATE on it to mute the mouth a bit and hide the mesh killing mounting brackets etc

I really do see the design challenge and the need for a smaller, lighter, harder car rather than be accused of a 20% smaller DB11 clone. People like 'race' derived styling cues on sportscars and its very much the trend. I don't know why what I love on the Vulcan isn't 100% translating here - is it a nose cone thing?

The draw dropping Vulcan has the eyes and mouth in a much more appealing arrangement... eyes above mouth on a sports/super/hyper car looks wrong imo (See Merc Concept 1 for example).. even a 911 looks all friendly and cute because of this.....eyes above mouth works for little cute city cars...

Eyes next to the mouth brings your eye down to a low wide look..... much more in keeping with these things...

Vulcan has the trad Aston 'to the front' bonnet and no nose cone... Thursday...

So the styling is a bit divisive.
So what
Surely as PH'ers we care more about how it drives and performs?

I think it will be a cracking engine and AM are saying they are focussed on a great sports car experince.

Sounds like cause for celebration to me.

Ah, you must be new here. smile

A quick tip - on any given day you can never tell if the ONLY thing that matters is being able to drive everywhere like a God who knows how to heel and toe and lives for a car that weighs 10g and a drop of water, or instead a car is a total failure because it doesn't look how people expect.

Don't try and rationalise it...you will go round the twist trying. winksmile

hehe
true.

Aston is a halo brand though.... we all 'care'
Cars like this HAVE to look at least as good as they drive.
Lots of gorgeous cars have been forgiven for not performing quite up there... 8C
This'un is 80% success for me

From the front axel back that thing is a very beautiful machine, certainly better than what I was expecting. I'm not quite sure on the front just yet, maybe it's the size of the lights I dunno but I think it will grow on me, kind of like how the db11 has.

I'm glad that it isn't just a shrunken db11 though and that it has its own unique character.

Bloody moaners, its looks very much like an Aston but with added wow factor. Almost any car can be compared to a similar model from another manufacturer. I agree the centre console looks a little AMG but so what, its not from one of those. This a great and bold move forward for AM. Keep it coming!

thanks for the advice - as a newbie I will try to shelve logic from now on!

That front grille - whilst not so bad on darker cars - has a dose of 'witch doctor's lip' and I've zero idea where a UK plate will do without looking silly?

Love it. Aston moving forward with the difficult task of keeping vantage cues but without being accused of being boring. If it had been too similar everyone would have moaned about that instead.

Anyone with photoshop skills able to put a black or chrome ‘Aston’ grill on the front to see how that changes the appearance.

was waiting for some photoshop front end.... this is the one in the AM section that gets more praise than the stick on launch version...

See, that’s handsome sure, but it’s also very much like DB11. You want to attract two different groups of buyers for the two cars, not have the same buyers debating whether to save £50k by buying a Vantage instead.

Headlights look a bit small and oddly shaped..could have been a bit more adventurous with them.

Overall all though it's nice. Wait until I've seen on for real..funny as that wasn't the case with the old one.

Those complaining the interior is too-Mercedes...you know there was Volvo and Ford bits in the old ones, right? Slightly biased as I like MB. I may purchase one of these Astons when depreciation happens.

Aston trying to make it look different so I can see why they did not do the old grill. People love it; people do not like it. It might be a slow grower

Looking at the MX5 with it's small headlights and large front radiator it seems to carry it off better

So I was thinking maybe the issue is that there is too much flat bonnet above and too much grill below in relation to the light size? It's a lot bigger car than the MX5.

Worlds worst photoshop, but with bigger lights, any better?

That grille still seems rather imposing.... perhaps it is the surround to the grille that is what is catching the eye?

Anyone who confuses either of those images with a DB11 has bigger issues tbh....

The bigger lamps help.... but the Vulcan shows how this should've gone....

Bear in mind that some people on this thread are confusing the new Vantage with an S2000, and those are enthusiasts.

I like that, though some horizontal slates on the new big grille design would look good I think.

3rd party retro fit maybe.

hehe

S2000 is unique and gorgeous...the Vantage wishes it looked that good hehe

maybe just some horizontal lines on the new Vantage grille... as it stands it's a big vacuous hole....which again is very racecar...
