How much does it weigh????? How can that weight be justified? Apart from that, what a stupid car. Looks wrong - it's far too long in the middle and the rear overhang, and has a dashboard which can't be used without taking your eyes off the road for a long time. Pointless, and does not have one redeaming quality in my opinion (which is just that, of course).
The dash its actually OK to use..in the end there are relatively few things I use while driving anyway and it is quite easy to learn. Evidently the look of the car is a purely personal conclusion and my suspicion is that it will not be a huge seller. As a current Cayenne owner I predict that many of those will simply move to the next Cayenne.Still, I like it and will report back on the ownership experience in due course.

Obviously the appearance of the car is a purely personal take, send if you think its ugly, that is of course a perfectly valid conclusion. I happen to like ti, but its not for everyone.

I would encourage you to try one though. I drove the car version and the roadholding is the best I have ever experienced on a big vehicle..its just stunning. The Turbo is also incandescently quick, ( did not try the hybrid but the regular Turbo is all I need anyway). The car is exceptionally comfortable and quiet..an ideal long distance runner ( and I do lots of that). Back seats flip down in a trice so plenty of luggage capacity. Its not a substitute for my Cayenne for towing for instance, but it is a hugely more capable car to drive. Yes, I will take it to the track for as day or two, and likely never after that, but I want to see how well it will drive.

It's an incredibly comfortable, quiet, agile, well-built, well-polished, refined tourer with enough performance to put an F40 in its place. None of that counts?

In my opinion, no! It's an appliance with no character. It may be stupidly fast, but it's entirely a digital experience. There's no soul or enjoyment to it. I prefer to actually drive a car, not simply pilot one.

Admittedly, i've not tried one, but I have driven the previous Turbo. As you say, it's very quick, but I found it dull. There was nothing special about driving it. More an appliance than fun. I just can't can't see the touch controls being a good idea though. I drive a lot of motorway miles, and I can adjust the heat, radio volume or anything else without even looking.
I guess i'm an old fashioned 37yr old! Manual gearbox, big rumbling engine and no electric motors outside of the heating system!

Extraordinary. My preference is for the purely mechanical; I'd much rather drive a Seven, Elise, GT3 or cars of that ilk but to say the Panamera has no redeeming qualities is being somewhat dismissive, I fear.

I suppose that it is dismissive, but only in my opinion, which doesn’t count for much in the grand scheme of things. I tend not to beat around the bush when i speak, so no offence was intended.
As far as the car goes, it is a great purely technical accomplishment. It doesn’t 'do' anything for me in any other way. I doubt it's a car you could develop an attachment to. It may sound odd, but when i used to get into my Chimaera, I felt happy, a sense of occasion perhaps, even though i used it daily. With this, I think it would be just a tool, no matter how fast it is. Hard to explain!

Finance calcs on Porsche website say it will depreciate from 139k to 80k over 3 years

Which on the one hand is a whole lot of money
And on the other seems pretty modest for a beast with so much tech that will be pretty well obsolete in 2020

Porsche also list a "regular" Turbo will depreciate by roughly the same amount

My assumption is lots of depreciation. Four doors , not limited , entering the electric era.

I don’t care. I have a couple of GT 3RS that will likely do the opposite. Cars are not an investment for me though. They are an experience. Couple of times a year I do an 8000km run and other long runs will occur also. This is to a degree a utility for me and a capable , confortable mileage eater is just fine. I specced it as opposite as possible to an RS with extra sound insulation.
I prefer my cars to deliver uniquely different experiences and not to have a bunch of hardass semi track cars that deliver variants of the same thing. This is a ten year car. Car arrives Jan.

Am unhappy that Porsche cancelled its Euro delivery program and have to ship the car back from Canada for its normal 5000 km shakedown. I have never driven anything remotely this big on a track.

But I will

The other irritation is no aftermarket wheel sets for snow tires. Bummer to have to go OEM
